The origin of Kallinich Claeys dates to 2022. The brand\u2019s own story states that the founders took their first steps toward becoming independent watchmakers in August 2022. Some independent watch references describe the brand as established in July 2022, so the safest way to describe the beginning is that Kallinich Claeys began as an independent watchmaking project in mid-2022 and publicly emerged with its first watch concept that same year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The brand was founded by Johannes Kallinich and Thibault Claeys. Johannes trained in watchmaking in Glash\u00fctte and began his professional career in 2013 after completing his education. He joined A. Lange & S\u00f6hne, worked in the Saxonia department, later became head of the Lange 1 department, and completed his Master Watchmaker qualification in 2021. Thibault Claeys trained as a watchmaker in Antwerp, Belgium, and later worked in the 1815 department at A. Lange & S\u00f6hne. Their shared background at Lange shaped the technical and finishing standards behind Kallinich Claeys.<\/p>\n\n\n

The brand\u2019s first major watch is the EINSER Central Seconds, also known in German as the Einser Zentralsekunde. It was conceived in 2022 and first shown through detailed renderings before prototypes and production pieces followed. The debut family included the EINSER Central Seconds and the more limited Founders Edition. The core production was very small, reflecting the hand-made and independent nature of the brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kallinich Claeys is best known for combining classical German watchmaking traditions with contemporary movement architecture. Its watches use traditional details such as German silver components, hand finishing, blued screws, gold chatons, anglage, black polishing, and detailed wheel finishing. At the same time, the brand gives the movement a modern visual identity, especially through its side-mounted power-reserve display, which can be seen through a sapphire window in the case flank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EINSER Central Seconds is powered by the KC001.1 movement. This manually wound calibre was developed with central hours, minutes, seconds, stop-seconds, and a power-reserve indication.
