Bremont Wright Flyer Watch Collection Review

The limited edition of Bremont's historical pieces are already hallmarks of Bremont since the moment the brand initially unveiled the EP120 in the year 2010. In 2014, at the Science Museum in London, the brand announced its most recent limited edition wristwatch, which is the Bremont Wright Flyer. And it prides itself to not just include a purge of the foremost successful powered flying machine, but also the foremost in-house movement of Bremont. As an up and coming brand which is exceedingly passionate about aviation, Bremont's announcement of the Bremont Wright Flyer was a very proud moment for them, and also a fitting platform which is for the unveiling of a new caliber which they call their foremost manufacturing movement.

After we saw the 2013 Codebreaker and how it can impressively integrate a reasonable amount of historical elements, all of us simply wondered what could be done by Bremont in taking this concept to a higher level. Now, in its 15th generation, the LEs of Bremont has proven to be a fantastic introduction to the company, and with this new Wright Flyer bg Bremont, the company has gone back to the initial formula of giving tribute to a historical aviation legend. As a matter of fact, using the word legend can be an understatement, this is genesis!

The Bremont Wright Flyer will be packed with a little part of the muslin fabric, which was actually utilized in the 1903 Wright Flyer's wings – which was the foremost airplane that was successfully powered. This fabric is going to be enclosed in the rotor's spinning mass which will give you the chance to carry a physical piece to the roots of a manned flight around. The real 1903 wing cloth is very rare, and the Wright family has made provision of it to only some particular individuals, and this includes Neil Armstrong who was with a piece in his pocket while he was walking on the moon.

In accordance with the example they set with their former LE projects, all proceeds got from the Wright Flyer will be used in restoring the home to the Wright family, which is located in Dayton, Ohio. If you have the Bremont brand on your radar, you know without a doubt that the English brothers who established and operated the brand are huge fans of the aviation world without limits. Here, Nick English talks about this project and how it is connected to the Wright family:

"Giles and I still cannot believe that it's happened. Holding the original and invaluable muslin used to cover the 1903 Wright Flyer is incredibly emotive. The Wright family has been wonderful to work with, and it was inspiring to see their passion for the project. Does the creation of a special aviation-inspired watch really get any better than this? Probably not. The combination of this amazing material and our new BWC/01 movement has resulted in a truly mind-blowing timepiece."

Thought we'd forgotten about the wristwatch, didn't you? Well, the Wright Flyer by Bremont is packed with the signature steel 43 mm Trip-Tick case of the brand, white gold, or rose gold. The design is inspired by the fantastic vintage-aviation, and it is bolstered by including the first in-house movement of Bremont, and when we take a look at the perspective of the design, the so-called Bremont caliber BEC/01 moment which was made in-house is seen to be based in the movement made by La Joux-Perret, which is a high-end maker of the Swiss watch movement, and it's more likely that Bremont partnered with the famous house for the development of this caliber.

This wristwatch is fitted with a finely finished stainless steel case of 43 millimeters, with the incorporation of greatly polished parts, a copper middle inlay in the band of the case, and a satin-brushed finish. The Wright Flyer which was newly produced by Bremont remains true to the DNA of Bremont and displays a timeless craft that got its inspiration from the watches of the early pilots dated as far back as the early 1900s.

This beautifully crafted timepiece comes with an onion-shaped crown, and a black matte dial with a red accent close to the chapter ring and ecru luminous Arabic numerals, sub seconds at 9 o'clock, with display case black. It also hand-sewn black alligator strap with a pin buckle, and these make it easy to wear the watch and also easy for one to coordinate it with every kind of outfit.

An auto movement with twenty-five jewels, the BWC/01 possesses a power reserve in excess of fifty hours and operates at 28,800 vph. With a Glucydur balance, Nivaflex 1 mainspring, a bi-directional winding, and a Nivarox balance spring, the BWC/01 is a modern movement, which represents a big milestone for Bremont. The movement has the signature "London," and a lot of its components are produced at Bremont HQ in Henley-on-Thames, England.

The dial design has a beautiful old-world charm alongside vintage-effect lume and minimal dial text. Both the main dial and sub-dial have railway scales, a design we see on other Bremont models like the Supermarine S500 and the Codebreaker. In addition, the seconds sub-dial is signed "1903" as an additional nod to the Wright Brothers’ world-changing achievement.

The manufactured units of Bremont's Wright Flier are quite limited with the steel having 300 units; the rose gold with 100 units and the white gold with 50 units. The two gold variants come with a white dial, while the steel variant arrives with a black dial. With an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a display back, it has an entire thickness of 14 mm, and it will arrive on an alligator strap, as said earlier. This watch is gorgeous; every watch enthusiast would want to have one!

Encapsulating its unique craft alongside its literal pieces of history, the limited editions of Bremont is not just a representing of their flagship products, but also a sneak peeks into the soul of the brothers who are responsible for a producer still a lot more on the rise. As they used to rely on 3rd party movements (majorly ETA) formerly, this wristwatch collection from Bremont is a great step for the brand as they continue expanding both their technology and product line. A thing is sure, and that is the fact that they have surely got their work cut out for them for the next couple of years.

When it comes to the prices of this wristwatch, it is determined by the models, and they are as follows:

  • The yellow gold has a price of $44,995
  • The rose gold is priced at $39,995
  • The model in steel goes for the price of $25,950

And that's true; we have not talked about the crowning jewel of the Wright Flyer wristwatch. No, we aren't talking about the crown itself, though it a line is quite pleasingly when it is screwed down, other brands note this down – and that's the fragment of the real muslin used in the Wright Flyer of the Wright Brothers, which is the foremost machine to be a successful heavier-than-air vehicle more than one century ago. That particular flight was definitely a much historical moment, in which Neil Armstrong took parts of the Wright Flyer to the moon and back to honor the achievement. That is likely not really exciting to you, but if likely it is to you, you will surely admit that the joy of having a real fragment of that plane definitely makes your inner need tingle a little bit.

It is an exciting one. Just imagine if you could turn back the hands of time, and Bremont had the chance of taking a second guess at releasing the wristwatch, I am certain it's have had its detractors. But above all, it is an excellent – and excellently priced – a piece that gives a literal portion of aviation history coupled with a movement that several watchmakers would want to have to perform the ticking duty. I mean, taking into consideration the pieces Neil Armstrong took with him to the moon and Bach was sold at an auction price of more than 500,000 pounds, perhaps the wristwatch is a little bit of a bargain.

Right in the wrist of anyone who wears it, the wristwatch is extremely comfortable and wears true to its size. For the individuals who are ready to go purchase this magnificent timepiece, be ready to wow people by wearing a piece of history on your wrist. While we have the feeling that controversy is quite okay, we also believe media sensation is simply as despicable, and that is the reason we like calling a spade a spade. After we have reviewed the watch, we are confident to say that it is handsomely packed, alongside a reasonable price. Here more than anything, we are paying for a remarkable piece of history. Now, if that particular piece wasn't incorporated in the watch, the story would have been a quite different one — all the accolades to Bremont for the production info this fantastic timepiece.
