About Oris Divers Watches

Oris produced their first dive watch in 1965, which would become the inspiration for their current Divers '65 collection. What would be classified today as a skin-diver, this 36mm wide watch with a rotating bezel was rated to 100 meters, which was more than sufficient for light diving duties, especially for recreational divers. If you're looking for a more advanced dive watch for your underwater adventures, have a look at the Oris Aquis collection.

What's Unique About Oris Divers Watches?

The heritage-inspired design and wide away of case sizes offered drew collectors in. Currently, Oris offers the Divers collection in sizes ranging from 38mm to 42mm, with previous versions ranging from 36.5mm to 43mm for the Divers Chronographs.
In addition to the number of case sizes, Oris offers the Divers collection in a multitude of colors, including bright blue, green, and pink dials inspired by cotton candy. Oris' first bronze watch was in the Divers collection, which continues with a number of references released in solid bronze cases with bronze bracelets and two-tone steel and bronze models.

Oris Divers Movements

Most Oris divers utilize Oris 733, which is a Sellita SW 200-1 based movement. This caliber has served as a replacement for the once-common ETA-based movements and proven itself reliable and accurate. The chronograph model uses the Oris 771, which is based on the Sellita SW 510.
The Oris Diver Sixty-Five 12H uses Oris' own Caliber 400. This impressive caliber offers a 5-day power reserve, anti-magnetism, and an impressive 10-year warranty with a 10-year service interval, backing up Oris' faith in this caliber.

Oris Divers Watch Colors

In addition to the standard black and blue dials, Oris offers the Divers collection in a dark green variant in 40mm. The real stand-out is the Cotton Candy collection, offered in both steel and bronze cases.
These dials (bright pink, blue, and green) bring a welcomed dose of levity to any watch collection, making for a much more whimsical offering for the times when one does not want to take themselves too seriously.

Oris Divers Materials

Sticking with dive watch tradition, most of the models in the Oris Divers collection are made of stainless steel, with steel or fabric straps. Emphasizing the more casual nature of these watches, many are offered with leather straps as well.
Introducing a great deal of novelty to the collection, Oris utilizes bronze for the case, bracelet, and bezel and mixes and matches the material with steel to varying degrees. Not only does this create a more affordable introduction to the two-tone look, as it does not use any gold, but bronze also patinas over time, changing the look of the watch as you wear it.

Oris Divers Watch Complications

Most of the Oris Divers watches stick with displaying the time and date, with some models being time only. Additionally, there is the Oris Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph, which adds a 30-minute chronograph while still including the rotating diving bezel.

Oris Divers Sizes

Currently, Oris has focused the Divers Sixty-Five collection around the 38mm and 40mm sizes. Previous iterations of the collection have included a broader range, but the market has clearly stated a preference for this size range.

Oris Divers FAQ

Can you dive with an Oris Divers watch?

While the 100 meters of water resistance will cause concern for many collectors who have read about water resistance online, 100 meters and the screw-down crown are more than enough to handle recreational diving. Should you be descending great depths and diving professionally, then there are other Oris products that will suit your needs. For the rest of the world that likely only subjects their watches to pool depths, an Oris Divers watch will be just fine.

How much do Oris Divers watches weigh?

To give a general idea of the weight of an Oris Divers watch, the Divers Sixty-Five 12H with in-house movement weighs about 114 grams on the steel bracelet.

How thick is an Oris Divers watch?

The time and date models are relatively thin, measuring 12mm thick, making them very suitable for daily wear. The chronograph model is noticeably thicker, measuring 15.4mm thick. While great for casual attire, it may be too thick for some of those who routinely wear cuffed dress shirts.
