Meistersinger No 3 Watch Collection Review

The first thing that comes to mind when collectors think about MeisterSinger wristwatches is their popular single hand wristwatch, which is a bold and entirely unique design. The design was inspired by the foremost forms of timekeeping, such as the hourglass and sundial, launched this brand into the known. The watches produced MeisterSinger are produced in a factory that is blessed with the views of the Dortmund-EMS Canal, which is in Germany, and where high quality and luxury timepieces are brought together.

With just one hand, these wristwatches will offer you a deceleration feeling. And that's even what the MeisterSinger's logo, a fermata, stands for; it is a fermata which is upside down – it's the symbol of pause in the musical notation.

The great designs of MeisterSinger have won several awards such as the Red Dot design award for six times, WatchPro's Watch of the year award in the year 2014 for their Neo Q design.

The names of the initial models of this company – No 1, No 2, and No 3 – also make these watches seem technical and functional, at least when you first see them. Actually, the numbering of these watches points to a characteristic of distinguishing the design of MeisterSinger wristwatches – the circumferential double-digit hour numerals of the watches. The initial models greatly exerted both the essence and the design language of the collection – for instance, the clear typography and non-presence of pointless ornamentation.

The MeisterSinger No 3 incorporates a significantly energy-efficient tech with the aesthetic principles of the modern single-hand wristwatch.

Meistersinger No 3: Self-winding

The names of their wrist watches also mark the iteration of the fundamental idea of design. The hand-wound movement is used to power the No 1 and No 2, while automatic caliber is used to drive the No 3, making it way more classic from a tech point of view. Nevertheless, different from many purists' opinions, which is considering only watches that are hand-wound to be classical, this automatic watch with the rotor winding mechanism of it is also originated from a fantastic matchmaking tradition. Though this technology was invented as far back as the 18th century, it didn't become common since the pocket watches of those days used to spend most of the time in their owner's waistcoat, thereby having very little movement for winding up their mainsprings. It also took tens of years for the ball-bearing rotor to prove that it is the most efficient system for self-winding watches.

Meistersinger No 3: Design

There is a little bit astonishing amount of complex technical process which takes place with no human intervention, as this wristwatch seems to drive its energy from nowhere – almost like it is alive. Today's self-winding mechanisms relate to eye-rolling, writing, musical boxes, which have complicated movement and were built by Swiss watchmakers hundreds of years ago. Even though a lot of church towers these days still display the time with a single hand.

Meistersinger No 3: Robust Case

In the picture of this wristwatch, you will see that it has an immense deal of history enclosed in its robust case. When it comes to watchmaking generally, of the design code of MeisterSinger, and one of their owners anytime they put on their watch for a long period of time. And if the one who owns a MeisterSinger No 3 gets in touch with purists that say they would not want to miss the daily ritual of having to wind up their watch with hands, the owner can likely tell these purists that his auto watch can also be manually wound.

MeisterSinger No 3 Black Line

This is a variant of the MeisterSinger No 3 model, which comprises 4 watches of the classic collection, and all of them share two common points. The initial one is their unique, or maybe sufficiently original, and different display, a single hand that shows the time. This denotes that just one hand is used in pointing to the right hour, and the approximate minute, with five-minute graduations. That precision is more than enough for daily life, trust us. Even this thing isn't new as every wristwatch of the MeisterSinger collection possesses this particular feature. The four wristwatches that are in the MeisterSinger Black Line include the No 3, the Perigraph, the Salthora Meta, and the Circularis Power Reserve.

The MeisterSinger No 3 black line wristwatch is the entry-level offer of MeisterSinger Black Line and displays a simple, clean, and original single-hand display without any extra features. It's enclosed in the same 43 millimeters black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coated stainless steel case similar to other wristwatches in this collection. In it is its Sellita clone or an auto ETA 2824-2, which only displays the hours. It has a sapphire crystal in its front and back, and it is automatic with a 38h power reserve. It is priced at €1,990

Meistersinger No 3 Bronze

The new Bronze Line of MeisterSinger comprises of three models. These models are known as the Metris, the Perigraph, and the No 3. None of the models are new, as the whole three have been in the collection of MeisterSinger for several years now. Nevertheless, this is the first time we're seeing these three iconic models from this German company, in a case made of bronze. Bronze isn't a new thing in the wristwatch industry; it is so much that some people can even say that the era of bronze cases has ended. We see it as something quite different. To us, the bronze material is one that is here to stay.

While bronze isn't as neutral when it comes to design, like gold, steel, or even titanium, it's a fantastic material which, when you use it correctly, it can elevate a modern look. We've seen this several times with some other brands. A brand, as such, is Tudor. We strongly have the belief that MeisterSinger's aim was this (or maybe an objective of theirs) to take three of the existing models of theirs and change them. Right now, we want to talk about the MeisterSinger No 3 Bronze, and in the whole bronze line of MeisterSinger, the one with the most industrial look is the No 3. To begin with, bronze used to be material used in making scientific devices and equipment. That could be why No 3 dial gives us such a feeling. Yet it doesn't look outdated or old.

Meistersinger No 3 Bronze: Case

The bluish dark dial and the bronze case is a fantastic combination. Even though the No 3 has quite a large size at 43 millimeters, it doesn't feel out of proportion in any way. Although it has a thin bezel, the thick but short lugs, and its large crown soften the large dial's look. It's also worth mentioning that the wristwatch only looks slim when you look at it from the front. If you turn the watch over, you'll see that it possesses its thickness. Not very much, but enough to make it appear rugged a little. A thing all bronze wristwatches should look like. To complement the roughness of the watch, its case's finishing is satin throughout the wristwatch. The sapphire display back is made of steel and is bolted to the case of the watch using six screws. If you look at the back, you'll see that the No 3 has a water resistance of 50 meters or 5 bar.

Meistersinger No 3 Bronze: Dial

The instrument-like appearance of the wristwatch's case continues with its dial. It has a simple layout, there are Arabic numeral markings on the hours, it has short five-minute markings, and it has long fifteen-minute indexes. To add to its look, the color red is used for the tip of the hand. You can see similar red markings in the indexes at the 3, 6, 9, and 12. Beneath the 12 o'clock, you'll see the name of the brand, and you'll see the model name (No 3) ontop the 6 o'clock position is the marking "Automatic," which highlights the movement. In between the 6 and the text is the date's aperture. For carrying on with the red dial, the wheel of the white date has red printing, which is for the numbers. Similar to most watches from MeisterSinger, it has an easily readable, large, and simple dial. It possesses enough details to be a little different from the steel No 3, yet it isn't over complicated with colors.

Meistersinger No 3: Movement

One will likely say that a unique wristwatch that has such a unique mode of displaying time might have a special movement. Well, it does have, and it is not the case. Let's explain to you. Indeed, the No 3, similar to all other MeisterSinger, has a movement which is greatly modified to meet the single-hand display function requirement. Though, its base caliber is a Sellita SW200-1 or an ETA 2824-2. We're talking about a caliber that can be self-wound and has 25 jewels (it's 26 for the Sellita) about 38 hours of power reserves and 28.800 Vph. It's a fantastic movement, which several brands use in a huge number of different models, which includes MeisterSinger.
