About Garrick Watches

Garrick Watch Company operates as an independent horological atelier, prioritising artisanal craftsmanship over industrial scalability. Founded in 2014 in Norfolk, England, the brand takes on a revivalist philosophy that leans on traditional English watchmaking techniques and heritage, particularly hand-finishing and in-house component production. Its timepieces are distinguished by hand-decorated elements, such as frosted dials, heat-blued hands, and large free-sprung balance wheels, that place watchmaking craftsmanship at the forefront. Unlike other large luxury brands, Garrick emphasises customisation, allowing clients to choose their own dial layout, finishing, and even movement architecture. Technically, while not fully vertically integrated, Garrick is committed to domestic production, collaborating with local specialists to manufacture components. Garrick represents a stark contrast to big Swiss brands, where hand craftsmanship and intellectual creativity are the cornerstones of the watchmaker, with a limited production of 50 pieces per year.

Garrick Watches History

Garrick Watch Company was founded in 2014 in Norfolk, England, emerging from the recent broader renaissance in contemporary British horology. Established by watchmakers Dave Brailsford and Simon Michlmayr, the company set out to challenge the dominance of Swiss manufacturing by reviving England’s once-preeminent tradition of handcrafted watchmaking. Historically, Britain had been central to watchmaking innovation during the 17th and 18th centuries, with prominent figures such as John Harrison. However, the British watch industry declined as broader watch production shifted to Switzerland. Garrick’s founders consciously positioned the brand to correct that decline, emphasizing hand-finishing, traditional techniques, and local production partnerships.

From its inception, Garrick distinguished itself by incorporating large, visually prominent balance wheels and meticulously finished movements, often assembled and decorated in-house. Early models like the S1 established its aesthetic language, blending classical English design cues with contemporary customization options. Over time, the firm deepened its technical capabilities, developing proprietary movements such as the UT-G series in collaboration with British specialists. While remaining a small-scale manufacturer, Garrick has cultivated a reputation among enthusiasts for authenticity and craftsmanship, embodying a deliberate resistance to mass production and a commitment to restoring Britain’s horological identity.

Garrick Watches Collections

Garrick currently offers four main models within its current collection. These models include the S7, S2 Deadbeat Seconds, S3 MKII, and S3 Deadbeat Seconds-Power Reserve. Each model is available with a number of customization options, in regards to dial colour and layout, making it possible to have the dream of a personalized timepiece come true.

Garrick S7

The Garrick S7 is Garrick’s smallest model, measuring 38mm in diameter. Available in 904L stainless steel or 18-carat gold, it serves as the brand's smallest accessible high-end model. The dial features a hand engine turned decoration, with a choice of different finishes including blue, black, rhodium, or pink gold. Each dial is meticulously created in-house on historic rose and straight-line engines. Visible through an exhibition case back, the S7 is powered by the calibre BF04, a heavily modified vintage Swiss hand-wound movement. Garrick offers numerous options for colors, hands, and straps, making the S7 a beautiful example of traditional watchmaking craftsmanship.

Garrick S2 Deadbeat Seconds

Housed in a 42mm 904L stainless steel or 18-carat gold case, the Garrick S2 Deadbeat Seconds is distinguished by its central deadbeat seconds complication, which makes the seconds hand jump in precise one-second increments rather than sweeping. Powering the watch is the exclusive in-house Calibre DB-G06 manual-wound movement, featuring an anti-magnetic Sircumet balance wheel prominently displayed through an aperture at 6 o'clock. Fully customizable, the S2 offers clients a choice of intricate engine-turned guilloché or frosted dials, custom hands, and specialized movement finishes.

Garrick S3 MKII

The Garrick S3 MK2 is one of the brand’s flagship, built-to-order, timepieces from the British independent watchmaker. Limited to a production of just five pieces annually, the 42mm case is available in 904L stainless steel or 18-carat gold case. The design features a striking openworked dial that elegantly showcases its meticulously hand-finished mechanics.

At its heart is the proprietary manual-wound UT-G04 calibre, highlighted by Garrick’s signature oversized, free-sprung Trinity balance wheel prominently displayed at 6 o'clock beneath a black-polished bridge. The dial layout includes refined subdials for running seconds and a power reserve indicator. Fully customizable to the owner's specifications, the S3 MK2 offers bespoke movement finishes, dials, and handmade hands, serving as a masterclass in traditional British horology.

Garrick S3 Deadbeat Seconds-Power Reserve

The Garrick S3 Deadbeat Seconds Power Reserve combines technical complexity with bespoke artistry. Housed in a 42mm case, it features the manual-wound DB-G07 calibre, distinguished by a central deadbeat seconds complication that provides precise, jumping increments.

The openworked dial architecture showcases Garrick’s signature free-sprung Trinity balance wheel at 6 o'clock, secured by a hand-polished bridge and a power reserve indicator at 2 o’clock. Every component is finished to exacting standards, with options for handmade engine-turned guilloché or frosted dials, ensuring each piece is a unique, hand-crafted masterpiece.

Garrick Regulator MK II

The Garrick Regulator MK II is a timepiece featuring a classic regulator display that deconstructs time into three separate indications. Housed in a 42mm 904L stainless steel or gold case, the dial presents hours at 3 o'clock, central minutes, and running seconds at 10 o'clock.

This mechanical layout is driven by the manual-wound UT-G02 calibre, which prominently features Garrick’s signature oversized in-house Trinity balance wheel visible through a dial aperture. The timepiece is a showcase of hand-finishing, offering bespoke options for engine-turned guilloché or frosted dials and choice of hands.

This model has been discontinued, but some examples remain in stock at Exquisite Timepieces.

Garrick Movements

Garrick watches utilize hand-finished and decorated manually wound movements. The S7 collection uses customized vintage Swiss calibers. The S2 and S3 models use in-house movements that are designed and manufactured by Garrick in the brand’s workshop, where a number of the components for the movement are made by Garrick themselves.

Garrick Watch Colors

Garrick offers a number of dial colour options to its clients. While most of them stay within the traditional black, white, silver, and blue realm, they also offer salmon coloured pink gold dials, and red dials. For the skeletonized models, there is the choice of movement colour, with rhodium, pink gold, and black gold as the options.

Garrick Watch Materials

Garrick utilizes materials one would expect from a high-end watch. For the steel cased watches, Garrick uses 904L steel, a steel alloy known for its corrosion resistance and ability to take a higher standard of finish. Garrick also offers 18k gold as an option for its watches. The front and rear crystals are made of sapphire glass, and the straps are high quality leather straps, with different hide types and colours available.

Garrick Watch Types

Garrick’s models are firmly in the category of modern dress watches. With a traditional case design yet modern sizes, they will have a modern presence with a classically influenced design. Garrick watches also remain practical for daily use, with cases featuring 100 meters of water resistance. With a focus on traditional craftsmanship and watchmaking, Garrick is a watch brand for enthusiasts and collectors looking for something unique to add to their collection.
