A first permanent series in 99.9% tantalum

Atelier Wen is proud to present Inflection, the first permanent collection of integrated bracelet watches in 99.9% pure tantalum. Available in 3 variants featuring grand feu enamel dials, a launch edition in a viridian fumé on a hand-hammered dial, 幽 (Yōu), and two permanent editions, 墨 (Mò) in obsidian black dial and 渊 (Yuān) in midnight blue dial.

Inflection is launched in an extremely small production annually — 幽 (Yōu) in 30 pieces, and 70 pieces split between 墨 (Mò) and 渊 (Yuān).

Designed by Alfred Chan, Inflection's design is rooted primarily in the use of curvature. Capturing the mesmerising blue-grey sheen of tantalum, the case and bracelet are finished in concave and convex edges. To amplify the beauty of the metal, it is also executed in a high degree of finishing of varied alternations of brushed, frosted and mirror-polished surfaces.

These contrasting variants of alternate edges and mixed finishing exhibit the harmonious duality in the watch, inspired by the Chinese philosophical concepts of 阴 (yīn) and 阳 (yáng).

A masterpiece by China's premier dial enameler

Inflection features a grand feu enamel dial crafted by Koncise Enamel - one of China’s foremost enamel ateliers.

渊 (Yuān), the permanent edition, showcases a deep midnight blue grand feu enamel on a 925-silver dial base. The dial is once more featured with white Arabic hour markers and rhodium-plated bi-planed leaf hands.

The hour markers are executed in an original font designed by Lee Yuen-Rapati, drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese bamboo leaf calligraphy.

A movement by a legendary watchmaker

Inflection houses a GP03300 calibre customised by one of the oldest Swiss watch manufacture, Girard-Perregaux.

A manufacture with near-complete in-house capabilities, this opens up access to fields of decoration, artisanship and high-end finishing that we have never explored before.

Designed by Atelier Wen's designer, Alfred Chan, alongside Sidoine Lescauville, and the Girard-Perregaux technical team, the bridges are decorated with curved, sweeping lines inspired by motifs of wind in historical Chinese paintings.

The rotor is constructed in two parts, with a tungsten weight that is anchored to the end of five skeletonised brass spokes that have been plated in rose gold and decorated once more in waved côtes and anglage. These customisations allowed us to incorporate our design language into the high-end calibre.

Executed in a slim profile, the GP03300 features automatic winding, stop (hacking) seconds, and boasts a power reserve of 48 hours.
