Inside is the high-beat Caliber 9SA5, a Grand Seiko-exclusive automatic movement. Thanks to its innovative Dual Impulse Escapement and twin barrels, it delivers a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour and an impressive power reserve of approximately 80 hours when fully wound. The case and bracelet are made of High-Intensity Titanium, which shines brighter than conventional titanium while offering exceptional scratch and corrosion resistance.

Iwate Prefecture, home to the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, boasts Japan’s largest white birch forest. White birch is a fast-growing, sun-loving species with remarkable vitality. The trees’ straight, white trunks reaching toward the sun evoke both beauty and strength. Inspired by the vast expanse of these trees stretching endlessly across the landscape, Grand Seiko developed the “White Birch Pattern,” a design that conveys the depth and richness of the forest. In contrast to the daylight scene, this dial expresses the quiet presence of white birch trunks standing in the darkness of night, illuminated by moonlight. This nocturnal landscape is rendered through a dynamic, textured pattern and a deep black dial color. The case and bracelet, made of High-Intensity Titanium, exhibit a refined, subdued luster that harmonizes with the dark dial and enhances the calm atmosphere inspired by nature.

Thanks to the highly efficient Dual Impulse Escapement and twin barrels, Caliber 9SA5 achieves approximately 80 hours of operation when the watch is fully wound, even with its high-beat rate of 36,000 vibrations per hour. The movement also allows the watches it powers to be more lightweight through a unique horizontal ring construction.

The case and bracelet are crafted from High-Intensity Titanium, which retains titanium’s inherently outstanding corrosion resistance while offering a brighter appearance and enhanced scratch resistance compared to conventional titanium.

As a highly biocompatible material, it is less likely to cause metal allergies while achieving approximately 30% weight reduction compared to stainless steel. It allows for a refined, polished finish and delivers a light, comfortable wearing experience.
