In fact, unless the clockworks of a timepiece meet several standards and surpass a multitude of qualifiers, a watch manufacturer is not legally allowed to use the term “Chronometer.” This is why Omega and only a few other Sweetish watchmakers are even allowed to use the moniker: Chronometer; and only if the individual timepiece passes a very rigorous set of tests and indicators of its prolonged function.
