A Living Stone: The Mirrored Force Resonance Ruby
A material shaped by nature. A movement crafted and hand-finished in Biel.
ARMIN STROM presents a new interpretation of the Mirrored Force Resonance, distinguished by a dial crafted from natural ruby - a gemstone prized for its vivid character and intrinsic vitality. Each dial is cut from genuine ruby, selected for the depth of its colour and the nuances only nature can create. No two stones are identical. Fine inclusions and tonal variations are not imperfections, but signatures of authenticity - traces of a material formed over millions of years. The ruby introduces a vibrant mineral intensity that contrasts with the architectural symmetry of the resonance movement. Its natural luminosity interacts subtly with light, revealing shifting red tones that bring warmth and presence to the exposed mechanics. Created in collaboration with a local stone artisan, this edition reflects Claude Greisler’s belief that materials must carry meaning beyond aesthetics. In ruby, symbolism and mechanics converge. Ruby has always played an essential role in watchmaking. Within the movement, synthetic ruby jewels minimise friction and ensure long-term precision. On the dial, natural ruby asserts its presence - while engineered ruby ensures performance.
Housed in a 43 mm stainless steel case and paired with a grey Alcantara strap with white stitching, the Ruby edition delivers a powerful mineral presence. White printed Roman numerals complete the display, adding a classical counterpoint to the watch’s contemporary structural design.
Resonance, Perfected
At the heart of the timepiece beats the manual-winding manufacture Calibre ARF21, entirely designed, developed and produced in-house. Its patented Resonance Clutch synchronises two independent regulating systems, allowing the twin balance wheels to oscillate in harmonic resonance. The result is enhanced chronometric stability and long-term precision. A pusher at 2 o’clock resets both seconds counters simultaneously, offering a visual demonstration of the resonance phenomenon in action. Operating at 3.5 Hz (25,200 vph) with a 48-hour power reserve, the movement transforms a centuries-old scientific principle into a modern mechanical achievement.
Designed to Matter
The movement showcases Armin Strom’s approach to hand-finishing. Hand-polished bevels, black-polished screws, perlage and circular graining enrich the architecture, while Geneva stripes on the reverse enhance depth and contrast. The interplay between the vivid ruby dial and the exposed mechanics creates a dynamic three-dimensional kinetic display. As with all Armin Strom timepieces, each watch is assembled twice to ensure both mechanical performance and finishing excellence. Every surface is treated as an integral element of the overall composition, reinforcing the brand’s philosophy of transparent expression and artisanal precision.
