About TAG Heuer Watches

TAG Heuer, the popular Swiss watch manufacturer, is known for offering sporty, elegant timepieces. Immerse yourself in the world of TAG Heuer and be inspired by their robust, unique watches. If you are looking for the best deal, we recommend that you consider a TAG Heuer pre-owned watch.
For over 150 years, the successful TAG Heuer label has been one of the most renowned manufacturers of clocks and timekeeping equipment.
TAG Heuer is famous for significant technical innovations, impressive precision, and passionate design. From the company headquarters in La Chaux-de-Fonds, TAG Heuer operates four production sites that cover all aspects of watchmaking. The company is represented by 4,500 sales outlets on all continents.

TAG Heuer History

This company from La Chaux-de-Fonds has made a name for itself over the decades, particularly as a chronograph specialist.
Edouard Heuer (1840-1892) founded the company in 1860 in St-Imier, Switzerland as Uhrenmanufaktur Heuer AG (English: Heuer Watchmaking Inc.). The company began manufacturing chronographs as early as 1882. In 1887 they patented the oscillating drive coupling; this type of coupling is still used today in many chronograph movements such as the Eta-Valjoux 7750 and the TAG Heuer 1887. In 1916, Heuer launched the "Mikrograph," a revolutionary stopwatch that was able to measure time to the hundredth of a second. The Mikrograph was followed by the "semi mikrograph" that offered 1/50 of a second timing, as well as a split-second function.

In 1939, Heuer offered its first waterproof wrist chronograph. In the early 1970s, Heuer not only advertised on the racing suits of Ferrari Formula 1 drivers, but also equipped them with watches. To prevent them from selling the gift watches, the company had each driver's blood type engraved on the case back.

It is rare in the watch industry that a takeover leads to a change in brand name, but that is exactly what happened when the Luxembourg based Holding company, Techniques d'Avant Garde (TAG) bought Heuer in 1985. TAG Heuer was thus formed. When luxury company LVMH took over TAG Heuer in 1999, the name remained unchanged.

Next, the company presented the V4 concept wristwatch at Baselworld 2004. This was the first belt-driven watch, created by physicist and mathematician Guy Sémon. This Frenchman, appointed technical director in 2008 and general director in 2014, is responsible for the perfection and series maturity of the complex automatic movement with linear oscillating weight, four barrels and tiny toothed belts, as well as revolutionary high-speed oscillators along with the Heuer 02 T caliber with automatic chronograph and tourbillon, presented in 2016. Additionally, TAG Heuer presented its first basic movement for chronographs in 2010, just in time for its 150th birthday. The caliber designation 1887 commemorates the year in which company founder Edouard Heuer received the patent for his oscillating drive coupling.

In 2015 TAG Heuer became one of the first Swiss watch manufacturers to build a smartwatch. The brand was in collaboration with Intel and Google for this device, the TAG Heuer Connected. The TAG Heuer Connected is an Android Wear smartwatch.

TAG Heuer is also increasingly involved in football. The brand is the official partner of various national leagues, including the German Bundesliga, the English Premier League, the Spanish LaLiga, the Major League Soccer in the USA, and the Chinese league. There is also a partnership with the Copa America, the counterpart to the European Championship on the double American continents. The brand advertises with Cristiano Ronaldo and Mats Hummels, among others. TAG Heuer produces around 720,000 watches a year and has 1,500 employees worldwide. Since Jean-Claude Biver has been running the company, TAG Heuer has presented itself more than ever as a young, cool brand. These days, a German Londoner is responsible for the design of TAG Heuer; Christoph Behling runs a multi award-winning design studio with nine employees in the Notting Hill district.

Tag Heuer Carrera Collection

The top end of the TAG Heuer range is the Carrera collection. The Carrera presented in 1963 and was named after the Carrera Panamericana road race. It is the brand's most successful collection to date. In 2015 it received its movement and a new strong design, called the Carrera Heuer 01.

Tag Heuer Monaco Collection

The name of this collection pays homage to the famous Formula 1 race in Monaco. Its unique square cult watch was introduced in 1969 and included one of the first automatic chronograph movements, the caliber 11. It became an icon thanks to Hollywood star Steve McQueen, who wore it in the 1970 film "Le Mans." The TAG Heuer Monaco has international prestige and is considered one of the greatest classic racing watches.

Tag Heuer Formula 1 Collection

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection contains several quartz chronographs at relatively affordable prices. It offers a wide selection of sporty timepieces with dials in a variety of colors. These timepieces come with stainless steel bracelets or either leather or NATO straps, depending on your taste.

Tag Heuer Aquaracer Collection

TAG Heuer continues its unique success story with the Tag Heuer Aquaracer. The Aquaracer is a high-precision watch for sailing and water sports and, alongside the Monaco and Carrera, is one of the brand’s most famous wristwatches. The Aquaracer, which was introduced in 2003 as the successor to the Professional 2000 series from the 1980s, has been revised several times since its introduction. It impresses today with its design and good price-performance ratio. There are numerous variations available, including models with a PVD coating.

Tag Heuer Link Collection

The core of the Link collection is the seamless combination of comfort and elegance, particularly evident through the construction of the ergonomic bracelet. The TAG Heuer Link bracelet is made of two S-shaped links that ensure optimal comfort on the wrist.

Tag Heuer Connected Collection

Launched on Nov 9 2015, TAG Heuer Connected represents their first smartwatch, and it runs on the Android wear operating system. It offers several smart functions and custom Tag Heuer watch faces.

Tag Heuer Autavia Collection

Last but not least, the famous Autavia offers a dashboard timer used for automobiles and aviation. The watch is not explicitly aimed at collectors and friends of vintage watches, but the design was influenced by them.
