Part of a continuing exploration of invisible complications, the Chronographe Mystérieux extends Parmigiani Fleurier’s unique approach to time, where function appears only when it holds meaning.
An invisible chronograph. Appearing only when needed.
At rest, the watch reads as a pure three-hand TONDA PF.
No counters. No indication. No visual disturbance.
The chronograph is present, yet nothing reveals it.
A monopusher at 7:30 activates the sequence.
One press starts the measurement.
A second stops it.
A third resets and makes it disappear.
TIME, FULLY EXPRESSED
When activated, the chronograph unfolds across the entire dial.
There are no sub dials.
No fragmentation of information.
First press: the chronograph hands emerge from their alignment and begin to move seconds and minutes expanding across the full dial.
Second press: the measurement stops, held in perfect legibility, read directly on the main time scale.
Third press: the hands return to their initial position, realigning seamlessly with the time display and disappear.
Five hands, perfectly superimposed at rest, separate only when needed, before returning to a single, silent reading.
FIVE HANDS. TRIPLE CLUTCH.
At the heart of this transformation lies a unique architecture:
five coaxial hands driven by a triple-clutch system — one vertical, two horizontal.
This configuration enables:
– the instantaneous deployment of the chronograph hands
– their precise synchronization during measurement
– their perfect realignment and disappearance at reset
A level of coordination rarely achieved in a chronograph, made here entirely invisible.

ENGINEERED FOR DISAPPEARANCE
The PF053 caliber was created specifically for this timepiece, rethinking the chronograph from its foundation.
362 components orchestrate a mechanism where appearance and disappearance are fully controlled.
Operating at 4 Hz (28,800 vph) with a 60-hour power reserve, the movement integrates:
- mechanical memory
- energy management
- perfectly synchronized clutch systems
All within a refined thickness of 6.9 mm.
