MORNING DEW REIMAGINED
The Promenade Goutte de Rosée reinterprets Czapek’s celebrated Goutte d’Eau in a radiant new form, pairing a 38mm 18K yellow gold case with a mesmerising green Grand Feu enamel dial. Inspired by the freshness of morning dew resting on spring leaves, the dial’s rippling surface creates a captivating illusion of moving water, transforming light into ever-changing reflections. Limited to just 25 pieces, the watch combines poetic elegance with the understated sophistication that defines the Promenade collection.
THE ART OF GRAND FEU ENAMEL
At the heart of the Goutte de Rosée lies an exceptional Grand Feu ‘flinqué’ enamel dial created in collaboration with Donzé Cadrans. The intricate wave motif is first stamped into a sterling silver base before artisans apply multiple layers of translucent green enamel by hand, firing the dial repeatedly at high temperatures after each stage. Variations in enamel thickness across the relief create remarkable depth and shifting tones, producing the illusion of rippling water on a perfectly smooth surface. Each dial requires hours of meticulous craftsmanship to achieve its luminous finish.
A UNIQUE CHALLENGE IN GREEN
Creating the Goutte de Rosée dial demanded an extraordinary level of expertise. Green enamel reacts unpredictably with silver, making adhesion and consistency especially difficult to master. Donzé Cadrans tested numerous enamel formulations before finding the perfect balance of colour, stability, and translucency. The pronounced relief of the dial further increased the complexity, requiring flawless enamel coverage across both deep recesses and raised surfaces. The demanding process results in rejection rates approaching 50 percent, ensuring that every finished dial represents a rare achievement in traditional enamel craftsmanship.
SINGULAR BEAUTY, INSIDE AND OUT
No two Promenade Goutte de Rosée dials are identical. Subtle variations in enamel thickness and hand-finishing give each piece its own unique character, ranging from richer emerald tones to more pronounced wave textures beneath the translucent surface. Beneath the dial beats the in-house Calibre SXH5.1, visible through the sapphire caseback and distinguished by its recycled platinum micro-rotor and elegant openworked bridges inspired by François Czapek’s historic pocket watches. Together, the movement and dial embody Czapek’s dedication to creativity, craftsmanship, and contemporary haute horlogerie.
THE MOVEMENT
Since its introduction in May 2020, the automatic Calibre SXH5 has continually evolved. For Promenade, Czapek and its engineers played with its architecture purely for the sake of the dial aesthetics – another example of the Maison’s “Beauty above all” approach, positioning the small seconds mechanism now directly beneath, and on the same axis as the dial display.
Immediately recognisable by the seven skeletonised bridges that hold the gear train in place – inspired by the 19th-century pocket watches of François Czapek – the movement plates and bridges feature fine haute horlogerie finishes, including bevelling, straight-grained sides and hand-chamfered inward angles. Beating at 4Hz (28,800 vph) and wound by a micro rotor with a mass of 100% recycled platinum, SXH5 offers 60 hours of power reserve.
