The Nuances collection celebrates the quiet power of color. Each watch features a single, vibrant dial, currently available in blue, red, and green, with new shades to come. Because color is more than a visual choice: it reflects a mood, a personality, a state of mind. We all have a color that feels like our own. Nuances was created around that simple idea, offering timepieces that let each wearer choose the shade that best expresses who they are.
Nuances is also our vision of a “daily”: Conceived as a permanent collection, it is designed to offer the versatility expected from a daily watch, without sacrificing the level of refinement and attention to detail that define every Sartory-Billard creation.
The more often a watch is worn, the more personal it becomes. That is why Nuances is offered in distinct colourways. Each one has its own character, allowing every owner to choose the version that best reflects their personality and develop a lasting connection with the watch over time. And because color is best embraced without compromise, every dial is paired with a perfectly matching rubber strap.
Observing Colour
Rather than treating colour as a finish or a decorative element, SB04-E Nuances places it at the very heart of the watch. Each of the colourways was conceived as a study of a single hue, exploring the richness, depth and subtle variations it can reveal under changing light.
One colour is never just one colour.
Nature constantly reminds us of this. A forest is composed of countless greens, shifting between shadow and sunlight. The ocean moves from pale reflections to deep blues as it catches the sky. Even a glass of red wine reveals unexpected tones, changing with every swirl and every reflection.
That observation gave the collection its name.
The word "nuance" extends beyond colour itself. It also describes the subtle distinctions that reveal a richer understanding of a subject once we take the time to look more closely. SB04-E Nuances was conceived with the same idea: the longer you look, the more you see.
The name Nuances also reflects our bespoke heritage. Every Bespoke Sartory-Billard creation begins with colors, textures, and material samples, where Pantone references have become a common language between our clients and our atelier. This collection is born from that same philosophy: sharing our love of color with its purest expression, one carefully selected “nuance” at a time.
Designed Around Colour
If colour was to become the defining feature of the watch, the dial itself had to be reimagined.
For SB04-E Nuances, every element was developed to enhance the perception of colour rather than compete with it. The dial features a slightly concave surface with a sunray-brushed finish radiating from the centre. As light travels across its surface, the fumé effect gradually darkens the outer edge, enhancing the impression of depth while revealing ever-changing nuances.
The numerals are applied directly to the dial rather than mounted on a sapphire disc. This construction reinforces the three-dimensional architecture while allowing the colour to take centre stage.
The typography was specially designed for Sartory-Billard by Simon Schmidt, who also created the numerals used on the SB10 collection. Their elongated proportions subtly draw inspiration from Art Deco, while the distinctive Y-shaped markers have become a recurring signature of the brand.
Completing the composition, the polished concave hands, inspired by the shape of a fountain pen nib, are filled with Super-LumiNova® for low-light legibility while echoing the dial's own geometry and reinforcing the sense of depth. Together, these elements create a watch that continuously reveals new subtleties as the light changes.
