Omega Grey Side of the Moon Meteorite Collection

The Omega Grey Side of the Moon Meteorite Collection is a member of the Omega Speedmaster collection, representing the pioneering, innovative, and adventurous spirit of Omega. The Omega Speedmaster collection is legendary and was the first watch to be endorsed by NASA as the first timepiece on the moon. The watch was later used in all the six lunar missions of NASA. The Omega Grey Side of the Moon Meteorite is an upgrade in design and innovation from its predecessor, the Omega Grey Side of the Moon. This new model has been beautifully crafted in ceramic and 18K Sedna™ gold.

Case

The watch has been retained in a polished grey ceramic case with a circumference of 44.25 mm. The case has a ceramic bezel, with a bezel ring made from silicon nitride. The silicon nitride is believed to be much lighter and harder than ceramic. The case is 16.14 mm thick. The watch can be described to be quite dark, which contrasts with the reddish tone of indexes, chronograph hand, bezel, hour and minute hands. The watch has domed sapphire, and the case back is transparent, giving an excellent view of the Omega Co-Axial caliber 9300 movement.

The Dial

The Omega Grey Side of the Moon Meteorite Collection has a meteorite dial. The meteorite was sourced from the Gibeon meteorite, which fell in Namibia during prehistoric times. The uniqueness of the dial is enhanced by the "Widmanstätten" pattern, which resembles a ribbon. The watch has a golden touch. The Omega Grey Side of the Moon Meteorite Collection is the first watch in the history of Omega watchmaking to have a tachymeter scale, created from the OMEGA Ceragold™.  Omega has used seamless technology to create an 18K Sedna™ gold bezel. The 18K Sedna™ gold used on this model has a reddish tone, which is present even on the watch's hands and indexes. The indexes and hands also contain the Super-LumiNova tone.

Sapphire crystal has been used to create the dial's window with anti-reflective treatment on both sides of the window. The sapphire crystal is also scratch-resistant. There is a date window at the 6 o’clock marker, at 3 o’clock a 12 hour and 60 minutes recorder, and at the 9 o’clock marker a seconds counter. The Speedmaster logo is red.

The Movement

The Omega Grey Side of the Moon Meteorite Collection is one of the first Omega watches to use a chronograph function in its movement. The watch has been modeled and designed after the other Omega Speedmaster Co-Axial chronographs. The watch uses the Omega Co-Axial caliber 9300, which has been equipped with the Si14 silicon balance spring. The watch has a water resistance level of 5 bar (167 feet/50 meters).

The Straps

The watch has grey leather straps, which have red stitching on the underside. The red stitching on the straps complements the reddish tone of the 18K Sedna™ gold used in making the watch. The straps are combined with a fold-over clasp and rubber insert. Buyers have the option of experimenting with different strap combinations. Omega offers more than 40 strap options for the Omega Grey Side of the Moon Meteorite Collection.
