The compact 9F quartz “Hana-Ikada 32,” evoking spring cherry blossoms floating on a river.
Features
Soon after the vernal equinox, cherry blossom petals scattered by the wind drift across the surfaces of rivers, forming what are poetically called hana-ikada, or flower rafts. This scene reflects the Japanese sensibility to find beauty in that which is finite and temporary. The dial captures this graceful image with its textured pattern and soft pink hue. It is equipped with the most compact movement in the 9F quartz series, the Caliber 9F51, which maintains exceptional accuracy and performance. The watch’s 32.3mm stainless steel case offers a refined, wrist-friendly size, paired with a clean dial without a day or date display for a minimalist aesthetic.
A dial inspired by spring cherry blossoms in Japan
In Japan, the year has traditionally been divided into 24 seasonal phases to observe the subtle transitions of nature. People have long appreciated the beauty of each moment, embraced the blessings unique to each season, and lived in harmony with nature. This model features a soft pink dial that expresses the fleeting beauty of spring, inspired by hana-ikada, a scene in which cherry blossoms in full bloom float along a river around the time of the spring equinox. Paired with the SBGX365 “Hana-Ikada Blue,” the two watches allow the wearer to experience the essence of Japanese spring across both day and night, which is an invitation to savor the artistry of Grand Seiko.
A case design that modernizes the 62GS, a milestone in Grand Seiko’s history
Grand Seiko’s first automatic watch, the 62GS, was introduced in 1967. Its most distinctive feature is almost certainly its bezel-less structure, in which the glass is directly fixed to the case body. This design reduces the visual thickness of the watch while allowing light to enter the dial from multiple angles. This model inherits the bezel-less structure and other design elements of the original 62GS from 1967, while refining aspects such as wearability and crown operability to achieve a more contemporary design. The bracelet features a tapered design for a natural fit and a sharp, elegant look on the wrist.
Caliber 9F51
Caliber 9F51 marks the most compact 9F caliber design to date. It retains hallmark features of the 9F series, including the Twin Pulse Control Motor, the Backlash Auto-Adjust Mechanism and a regulation switch for manual fine-tuning of accuracy during servicing.
