More on Omega Grey Side of the Moon Watches

Omega Grey Side of the Moon Collection

The Omega Grey Side of the Moon watch is part of the Omega Speedmaster collection. The watch represents Omega's best watchmaking technologies. The Omega Grey Side of the Moon collection evokes the mystery and allure of space with its iconic design. The watch is a gradient between white and matte black. The Omega Grey Side of the Moon model was inspired by lunar dust found on the moon's surface. The dust preserved the footprints of the first humans on the moon. The watch recalls the words of astronaut Jim Lovell, “The Moon is essentially grey.”

Case

The watch case is fully ceramic, even though the finish resembles a stainless steel case. The polished and brushed surfaces of the watch give it a metallic look. The ceramic case is extremely scratch-resistant, and due to its durability, it can maintain a brand new look for a long time. The ceramic case has a black PVD finish. The watch doesn’t rotate and is not a diver’s watch, but it features a ceramic bezel. The crown and the watch's pushers are made from ceramic, too, and the crown doesn't screw down.

The watch has a clear back case, so the 9300 movement of the watch is visible. Arabesque patterns and exceedingly deep texture have been used to decorate the watch. The Arabesque design is a unique style of flowing and interwoven lines of different varieties. The Geneva lines create an eye-catching radial flow.

The Dial

The dial has a bi-complex layout, which reveals a gorgeous platinum texture. From a distance, the dial looks white even though it's a silver-plated dial.  The white spots and fine grey texture are evident. The ceramic dial of the watch bears the Zr02 chemical nomenclature. The tachymeter and crown are luminous. The 44 mm watch is more versatile and can be worn as a dress watch or for a casual occasion. The hands and the indices are black, but they have a gray/dark silver look when light reflects on them. The date window is located at the 6 o’clock marker. The dial has two integrated platinum sub-dials; one is for hours, while the other is for seconds. The numbers and markers on the dial are filled and engraved with the luminescent Super-LumiNova.

The Movement

The Omega Grey Side of the Moon collection is powered by the in-house chronograph generated by the 9300 movement. The 9300 movement is an integrated chronograph with a Si14 silicon hairspring and Omega’s co-axial escapement. The watch has a power reserve of up to 60 hours and dual mainsprings. The Omega 9300 movement chronograph can be described as the most sophisticated chronograph in the watchmaking field. The 9300 movement of the Omega Grey Side of the Moon model is rhodium plated.

The Straps

The Omega Grey Side of the Moon collection has grey straps with white stitching beautifully exposed to contrast with the grey color. The watch has a rubberized notch, and the buckles are also made from ceramic. This upgrades the classy look of the watch.
