The Ghost Spirit, Reinvented
For several years, Sartory-Billard has been exploring a radical aesthetic with the Ghost editions: playing with reflections, the disappearance of visual markers, and a fascination with polished mirror surfaces. These pieces, stripped of color, embody an almost ghostly watchmaking, where light itself becomes the only material.
With the SB04-E Ghost Silicon, Sartory Billard takes a new step forward. For the first time – after titanium, steel, and gold (private collection) – the mirror surface uses a non-metallic material through the bold use of silicon.
Silicon, the Absolute Mirror
A material emblematic of microtechnology, silicon is used here in its purest form. Each disk is polished to the point of becoming a perfect mirror, revealing a surface of unique intensity: a deep gray, identical to that of tantalum, but with a spectral brilliance that captures and reflects every nuance of light.They are then cut and assembled by Armand Billard in the Sartory-Billard workshop to an extreme thickness of just 0.5 mm.
Two Interpretations
- Subtle version: an outer ring in sunburst, smoked tantalum frames a central disk in polished mirror silicon. The two materials, twin in color yet opposite in texture, enter into a dialogue of unique harmony.
- Radical version: a full dial in polished mirror silicon, a total and continuous surface, both hypnotic and elusive. A true Ghost watch, reserved for the boldest collectors.

Form around your wrist
Both SB04-E Ghost editions, whether the full silicon dial or the silicon-and-tantalum combination, are offered with a choice of two exclusive bracelets. The first is a Sartory-Billard rubber strap with a sleek, integrated design, secured by a stainless-steel pin buckle engraved with the SB logo. The second is a Sartory-Billard metal bracelet, featuring alternating brushed and polished surfaces that echo the Ghost’s mirrored aesthetic, paired with a robust three-fold clasp also signed with the logo.
The Raw Material
Silicon is born from the earth’s crust, where it exists in endless abundance as sand and quartz. When refined and crystallized into its purest form, it becomes something entirely different: a perfect lattice of matter, cut into thin wafers and polished until their surface turns into a dark, mirror-like plane. Harder than steel yet lighter than aluminum, this unlikely material usually powers the hidden world of microchips and precision mechanics. On the SB04-E Ghost, this raw material is transformed into a dial that appears almost immaterial—at once mirror, shadow, and light—turning an element of science into a canvas of pure poetry.
In watchmaking, “silicon” (without e) designates the crystalline element shaping our dials – distinct from “silicone,” the soft polymer used in everyday materials.
