Breguet Reine de Naples Watch Collection Review

Breguet reinvented the women's watch with the Breguet queen of Naples in a classic case with a modern profile in honor of the first wristwatch produced in 1810 for the Queen of Naples. The various models in the series of Breguet Reine de Naples provide a perfect balance of experience, sophistication and quality materials offering a range of horological complexities and sculptures.

Breguet Reine de Naples: Brief History

A timepiece that Caroline Murat ordered from Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1810, and which was provided to her in 1812, sets the basis of the Reine de Naples collection. All traces of the original, however, have been lost since 1855. Not a single sketch, no engravings nor paintings Just words. Nothing at all. So the current collection was based on the descriptions tracked in the registers of this period, which were more or less detailed. On 8 June 1810, it is reported that the Queen of Naples had requested Breguet for two Breguet queen of Naples watches. The first of these was a big complicated watch. The second watch was "a bracelet watch that had a minute repeater and cost around 5,000 francs. The watch was ideal for a queen. Especially the one who bought 34 clocks and watches from the company from 1808 to 1814! In this way Breguet was ready to establish the heritage or as it was considered to be a "repeater for bracelet in oblong form" of the future Breguet Reine de Naples series mentioned in the registers under number 2639.

Artistically and physically, the first Reine de Naples was exceptional. A "free" lever escapement and a thermometer were present in this watch. The archives in Breguet note that the watch was made by 17 craftsmen, who took 34 different operations. More research shows that the gold dial with guilloche was in the first edition. The silver dial substituted the guilloche and the finished piece's Arabic numerals.

The watch was sent to its new owner on 21 December 1812. Breguet recorded it as' a very thin repeater N ° 2639 watch, silver dial, thermometer, Arabic numerals, fast-slow outside of a dial, fitted in a hair bracelet with a gold fine thread, by will, a simple gold key and another similarly trimmed gold bracelet in a red calf-skin case.'

Breguet collected the puzzle pieces from the details of its historical records nearly two centuries later and then introduced the Breguet Reine de Naples series. It was in the year 2002 and the watch had visually numerous similarities to what the different descriptions of the original piece had stated. The distinctive shape of the egg is in its white gold case The blued steel apple hands show hours and minutes on a subdial. The diamonds were hemmed bezel and flange. The mechanical motion automatically counts time inside.

The best-known women's watch of Breguet has since then lodged several variations, both mechanical and esthetic, confirming the quality of its curved lines and feminine elegance.
