15 best sunburst dial watches

15 BEST Sunburst Dial Watches (The “Headturner” Collection)

Devin Hargrove

December 20, 2022

Out of all the watch dial types, one of the most distinctive options tends to be sunburst dial watches. These timepieces are capable of reflecting light in distinctive ways, capturing attention while portraying sophistication and retaining a classic appeal.

That said, the way these watches are made often means the price tags will be greater than some other dial types. It’s important to know what the best sunburst dial watches are so you can make the correct investment and get the best quality timepiece that will retain or grow in value over the years.

What Makes Sunburst Watches Unique?

The term sunburst, or sunray, in the watch world refers to a type of dial with thin brushed looking lines that emanate from a center point and move outwards. Typically, these lines will appear from the center of the dial but sometimes emanate from an auxiliary dial or another off-center focal point.

Sunburst watches are a staple of the watchmaking industry, well-liked among both enthusiasts and regular consumers for their simple yet refined appearance. Most watch manufacturers produce sunburst watches but some of the most popular brands for these watch types include Rolex, OMEGA, Seiko, Glashütte, and the like.

Texture

The key with sunburst watch dials is that the effects come from the texture, rather than being painted on or through other means. This creates a unique-looking watch dial with tiny lines that catch the light and reflect in different ways.

Various watch manufacturers handle these lines in different ways, with some models having much more noticeable textures than others. However, the key with all sunburst watches is that the texture is the important factor and what creates the unique light play coveted with these types of watches.

Colors

One thing to look out for with sunburst watches is the color of the dial. It’s quite common for sunburst watches to come with darker-colored dials as these often contrast well when light hits the textured lines.

Perhaps the most common color is blue in various shades, with one of the most popular examples being the Rolex Submariner Date Oyster in royal blue. Other popular colors for sunburst watches include green, cherry, and champagne.

If you’re looking for a sunburst dial watch that will work well for all occasions, dark blue dials can be a great choice. These work well in both casual and professional settings and are easy to match with a range of clothing options.

15 Best Sunburst Dial Watches

As noted previously, most watch manufacturers will have a few different models that you can buy with sunburst or sunray dials. However, only a handful of manufacturers do this particularly well.

To help you cut through the noise, here are the fifteen best sunburst dial watches. Each has been selected based both on the aesthetics of the design but also on the strength and reliability of the brand. So, you can rest assured you’re investing in a timepiece that will look good and hold up well.

1. OMEGA Constellation Gold Blue Dial

OMEGA Constellation Gold Blue Dial

From the start, I’ll say I have a predilection toward OMEGA watches. As a James Bond fanatic, I think the switch to the OMEGA Seamaster in Goldeneye from the traditional Rolex Submariner brought some much-needed variety to the watches of the franchise.

With that said, the OMEGA Constellation is a sure pleaser for almost any watch enthusiast, whether you’re a fan of OMEGA watches or not.

The off-center sunburst radiating from the gold star is at the center of what makes this watch stand out. Add to that the refined look of OMEGA’s Sedna gold against the polished blue of the bezel which creates an overall polished timepiece perfect for both the boardroom and more leisurely activities.

On the backside, you have a clear view of the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8900, which drives the watch and further adds to the sophistication of the timepiece. All of this together places the OMEGA Constellation Gold Blue Dial at the top of the list of best sunburst dial watches.

  • Case Size: 41mm
  • Case Material: Steel and Sedna Gold
  • Bracelet Material: Leather
  • Dial Window: Sapphire
  • Display: Blue Sunburst
  • Movement: Omega Caliber 8901
  • Water Resistance: 100m
  • Reference: 131.23.41.21.03.001
  • Price: Around $9,000

2. Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date Steel and Gold (Black Dial Version)

Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date Steel and Gold (Black Dial Version)

Second in line for the title is the Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama. Those familiar with the Glashütte Original, pronounced as Glasshoota, already know the company has a long tradition of exceptional craftsmanship and fine German engineering.

The SeaQ Panorama Date is a true demonstration of this high level of craftsmanship. Utilizing the smooth and refined Caliber 36-13 movement, the SeaQ Panorama Date is guaranteed to keep perfect time and withstand the most demanding of uses.

For the aesthetics of the watch, I find the galvanic black dial with a sunburst finish well contrasted with the gold indices and hands to be highly pleasing. Everything about the watch adds to the polished and unique appearance, from the domed sapphire crystal on both the front and back to the original Glashütte GG logo at the end of the sweep hand.

Further, the SeaQ Panorama Date isn’t a dive watch in name only. The timepiece is rated at 300 meters and complies with German DIN8306 standards. So, if you’re after a sunburst dial watch that is functional and aesthetically pleasing, the Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date is the right choice.

  • Case Size: 43.20mm
  • Case Material: Red Gold and Stainless Steel
  • Bracelet Material: Fabric
  • Dial Window: Sapphire
  • Display: Grey Sunburst
  • Movement: Glashütte Original caliber 36-13
  • Water Resistance: 300m

3. Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph SSC909

Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph SSC909

Along with OMEGA watches, I have a bias for Seiko timepieces which I picked up from my father. For that reason, rounding out the number three position for the best sunburst dial watches is the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph SSC909.

This is one of the most distinctive watches on this list, with a limited run of 10,000 and a highly original appearance. What immediately stands out is the sky-blue colored dial with a sunray finish which catches the light in some of the most unique ways.

Further adding to the aesthetics is the stainless steel bracelet with brushed black steel going down the center, invoking images of car racing stripes. The three auxiliary dials and date window help add to the sporty look of the watch and help to round out the overall appearance.

  • Case Size: 45.50mm
  • Case Material: Stainless Steel
  • Bracelet Material: Stainless Steel
  • Dial Window: Sapphire
  • Display: Sky Blue Sunburst
  • Movement: Solar, Caliber V192
  • Water Resistance: 100m

4. OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m Green Dial

OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m Green Dial

Another top-notch OMEGA timepiece is the Seamaster, popularised first by Pierce Brosnan and then by Daniel Craig in the James Bond films.

The Aqua Terra is a commanding yet subtle variation of the Seamaster line of timepieces. It stands out for both the moss green dial color and the simplicity of the overall design. As with the OMEGA Constellation, the sunburst extends from an off-center position in contrast to many watches.

One thing to note is the watch lacks a rotating bezel which makes it unsuitable as a functional dive watch. That said, it is waterproof up to 150m ensuring it holds up to the reputation for durability set by other watches in the Seamaster line.

With the Aqua Terra, you get the Mechanical Automatic, Caliber Omega 8802 movement which can be seen through the sapphire crystal on the backend of the watch. If you’re looking for a professional sunburst watch that differs from the traditional blue dials, the Aqua Terra is a solid choice.

  • Case Size: 38mm
  • Case Material: Stainless Steel
  • Bracelet Material: Stainless Steel
  • Dial Window: Sapphire
  • Display: Green Sunburst
  • Movement: Mechanical Automatic, Caliber Omega 8802
  • Water Resistance: 150m
  • Reference: 220.10.38.20.10.001
  • Price: Around $6,000

5. Oris Aquis 41mm Cherry Dial

Oris Aquis 41mm Cherry Dial

Compared to Rolex and OMEGA, Oris doesn’t have the same level of brand recognition. However, that’s no reason to discount the fine level of craftsmanship honed over their 100-year history.

That craftsmanship is on full display with the Oris Aquis. From the start, the cherry color of the dial is highly unique and different from any other watch on this list. The sunburst radiates from the center but comes in a bit understated when compared to watches like the OMEGA Constellation.

The watch movement is the mechanical automatic Caliber 733, which ensures 38 hours of reserve power. Both the case and bracelet are stainless steel, with a darker steel-colored bezel.

If you’re looking for something functional that can be used on dives, the bezel on the Oris Aquis rotates and the watch is rated to a depth of 300 meters. While the cherry color of the dial may not appeal to everyone, the Aquis stands out as a good choice for fashion-forward watch lovers.

  • Case Size: 41.5mm
  • Case Material: Stainless Steel
  • Bracelet Material: Stainless Steel
  • Dial Window: Sapphire
  • Display: Cherry Sunburst
  • Movement: Mechanical Automatic, Caliber 733, 38 hours power reserve

6. Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41mm

Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41mm

For watch enthusiasts, the Rolex Oyster needs no introduction. Launched in 1926 as the world’s first waterproof watch, the famed timepiece has become a staple in the collections of serious watch collectors worldwide.

If you’re looking for a sunburst dial watch that will look good in both professional and leisurely settings, you can’t go wrong with the Oyster Perpetual 41. From the jump, the brilliant silver of the dial contrasts flawlessly with the gold-colored indices and the stainless steel bracelet.

The sunburst of the dial only helps to enhance the silver coloring of the dial, capturing light in interesting ways. As with other Rolex watches, small details such as the logo for the 12 index and on the crown help add to the overall polished look.

For the movement, the Oyster Perpetual 41 comes with the updated caliber 3230 which was first introduced in 2020. The movement is both capable and precise, with advancements in everything from the power reserve to shock resistance.

  • Case Size: 41mm
  • Case Material: Stainless Steel
  • Bracelet Material: Stainless Steel
  • Dial Window: Sapphire
  • Display: Silver Sunburst
  • Movement: Mechanical Automatic
  • Water Resistance: 100m

7. Hublot Spirit of Big Bang 39mm Gold Blue Dial

Hublot Spirit of Big Bang 39mm Gold Blue Dial

No list of best sunburst dial watches would be complete without a nod to one of the best-known luxury brands, Hublot. The Spirit of Big Bang represents some of the best qualities of Hublot timepieces, with everything from precision craftsmanship to flashy yet sophisticated design choices.

The watch is different from others on this list, with a tonneau-shaped case made from 18k red gold with fifty diamonds encrusted around the bezel. For an even more distinctive appearance, Hublot chose an exhibition backside for the case, showcasing the HUB1710 automatic movement.

For the strap, blue rubber and alligator leather were selected to compliment the blue dial and round out the elegant appearance of the watch. Further details which add to the elegance of this timepiece include the Hublot logo at the base of the sweep hand and on the crown.

If you’re looking for a lady’s sunburst dial watch that is a sure showstopper, the Hublot Spirit of Big Bank 39 is hard to top.

  • Case Size: 39mm
  • Case Material: 18k Red Gold and Diamond Bezel
  • Bracelet Material: Leather
  • Dial Window: Sapphire
  • Display: Blue Sunburst
  • Movement: Mechanical Automatic
  • Water Resistance: 100m

  • Price: Around $30,000

8. Zodiac Super Sea Wolf ZO9269

Zodiac Super Sea Wolf ZO9269

Zodiac is another brand that gets less attention on many lists but one that is equally deserving of recognition for quality parts and precision craftsmanship. Founded in 1882 in Switzerland, the brand was later purchased by the American-based Fossil Group, though manufacturing remains in Bienne, Switzerland.

The Super Sea Wolf is the brand’s primary claim to fame and gets extra marks from me for being an actual dive watch. One issue I’ve found as a scuba diver is that many modern dive watches aren’t made with functionality in mind and rely too much on aesthetics. With the Super Sea Wolf, you get both.

Immediately what stands out is the thick light green bezel, making it easier to see underwater. As with other Super Sea Wolf watches, the crown and case are thicker than you would find with similar watches, making it easier to handle underwater and with dive gloves.

The movement for the Super Sea Wolf ZO926 is automatic and, together with the silver sunburst dial, everything comes together nicely to create a rugged and aesthetic dive watch.

  • Case Size: 40mm
  • Case Material: Stainless Steel
  • Bracelet Material: Stainless Steel
  • Dial Window: Sapphire
  • Display: Silver Sunburst
  • Movement: Mechanical Automatic
  • Water Resistance: 200m
  • Reference: ZO9269
  • Price: Around $1,500

9. Longines Spirit Zulu Time Blue Dial

Longines Spirit Zulu Time Blue Dial

The Longines Spirit Zulu Time Blue Dial is one of my favorite mid-market sunburst dial watches. I’m a fan of the specific shade of blue that Longines chose for the timepiece. While it reflects light well, the dial is subdued enough to wear both in personal and professional settings.

One thing to note about the Spirit Zulu Time is the watch is capable of managing multiple time zones. Other features of the watch include a chronometer and date window above the six position. The leather strap comes with an extendable folding clasp unique to Longines watches that makes adjusting the strap quicker.

The watch movement is the caliber L844.4 automatic GMT movement which boasts an impressive 72-hour power reserve. Among other benefits, the movement comes with a silicon balance which provides additional anti-magnetism protection and ensures a high accuracy rating.

  • Case Size: 42mm
  • Case Material: Stainless Steel and Ceramic Bezel
  • Bracelet Material: Blue Leather
  • Dial Window: Sapphire w/ Anti-Reflective Coating
  • Display: Dark Blue Sunburst
  • Movement: Automatic Caliber L844
  • Water Resistance: 100m
  • Reference: L3.812.4.93.2
  • Price: Around $3,000

10. Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Steel

Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Steel

Founded in 1735, Blancpain is the world’s oldest watch manufacturer and has set the standard for fine Swiss timepieces. The Fifty Fathoms line of dive watches, first launched in 1953 is one of their greatest achievements and is widely recognized as one of the first modern dive watches.

This is one of my favorite watches owing both to its aesthetic appeal and how much it has revolutionized dive watches. With the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe, you’re getting a highly functional dive watch with a water resistance rating of 300m (984ft) made from corrosive-resistant materials.

The case for the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe is stainless steel with a water-resistant sail-canvas watch strap. One of the things I like about this timepiece is the meteor gray sunburst dial color, which makes this watch distinctive from many others.

There is a date window between the fourth and fifth index along with some features that are helpful for divers including an oversized crown and a large 43mm case. If you’re looking for a highly-functional dive watch with strong aesthetic appeal, I’d start with the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms.

  • Case Size: 43mm
  • Case Material: Satin-Brushed Steel
  • Bracelet Material: Sail-Canvas
  • Dial Window: Sapphire
  • Display: Meteor Grey Sunburst
  • Movement: Automatic Self-Winding
  • Water Resistance: 300m
  • Reference: 5000-1110-K52A
  • Price: Around $11,000

11. Hublot Big Bang Steel Blue Diamonds

Hublot Big Bang Steel Blue Diamonds

Despite taking the number eleven spot, the Hublot Big Bang is a stunning example of fine craftsmanship and one of the best-known watches in the world for reason. I remember the first time seeing the Big Bang Boa at the Central Embassy Hublot store in Bangkok and being mesmerized.

Another in the Big Bang line, the Steel Blue Diamonds, is the perfect choice if you’re looking for a Hublot with a sunburst finish. While the Big Bang Steel Blue Diamond isn’t quite as bold as the Boa version, the blue satin dial with 36 diamonds surrounding the bezel won’t fail to garner attention.

The movement for the Hublot Big Bang Steel Blue Diamonds is the HUB4300 self-winding chronograph movement. As with other Hublot watches, the HUB4300 movement provides a solid power reserve of 42 hours and comes with enhanced anti-shock and anti-magnetism protection.

One final aspect of the watch that I like is the blue alligator watch strap, similar to that of the Spirit of Big Bang listed above. While the almost $17,000 price tag puts it at the higher end, the Big Bang Steel Blue Diamond in my opinion represents the best of what Hublot has to offer.

  • Case Size: 41mm
  • Case Material: Stainless Steel and Diamond Bezel
  • Bracelet Material: Blue Rubber and Alligator Leather
  • Dial Window: Sapphire
  • Display: Blue Sunburst
  • Movement: HUB4300 Self-winding Chronograph Movement
  • Water Resistance: 100m
  • Reference: 341.SX.7170.LR.1204
  • Price: Around $18,000

12. Maurice Lacroix Eliros Chronograph Dark Blue Dial

Maurice Lacroix Eliros Chronograph Dark Blue Dial

This is one of my favorite mid-market watches due to the simplicity of the design and distinctive stainless steel mesh watch band. I’m also a fan of the dark blue dial color and understated sunburst finish.

Some of the features of the Maurice Lacroix Eliros include a chronograph (counting seconds, half-hour, and 1/10 seconds), water resistance up to 50m (164ft), and a date window between the four and five indices.

One specific feature I like about the Eliros Chronograph is the easy strap exchange system. This system allows you to swap out straps and bracelets based on your preference without the need for specialized tools or a visit to the local horologist.

The movement for the Maurice Lacroix Eliros is quartz, differing from most of the other watches on this list which have mechanical movements. Overall, the Maurice Lacroix Eliros Chronograph is a solid choice if you are looking for an introductory mid-market sunburst dial watch good for all occasions.

  • Case Size: 40mm
  • Case Material: Stainless Steel
  • Bracelet Material: Stainless Steel
  • Dial Window: Sapphire
  • Display: Dark Blue Sunburst
  • Movement: Quartz
  • Water Resistance: 50m
  • Reference: EL1098-SS006-420-1
  • Price: Around $1,000

13. Laurent Ferrier Square Micro-Rotor Sunburst Gold-Toned Dial

Laurent Ferrier Square Micro-Rotor Sunburst Gold-Toned Dial

Another of my favorite gold-dial sunburst dial watches is the Laurent Ferrier Square Micro-Roto with the gold-toned dial. This is a highly distinctive watch not only for the brilliant gold sunburst finish that radiates light but also for the 18k white gold drop-shaped indices.

From the start, I should note that this is one of the most expensive watches on this list and highly indicative of the fine quality craftsmanship you can expect from Laurent Ferrier. Coming in at around $50,000, the Square Micro-Rotor Sunburst Gold-Toned Dial is solidly in the luxury watch category.

The movement of the Laurent Ferrier Square Micro-Rotor is the automatic winding caliber FBN 229.01. On the back side of the case is a sapphire crystal allowing a perfect view of all 180 components that make up the movement.

One final detail to note is the larger 41mm cushion-shaped case. The choice was made to deviate from the traditional circular-shaped case of the Classic Origin to create a bolder presence. Combined with the Barbialla calf watch strap, the Laurent Ferrier Square Micro-Rotor is a true representation of precision Swiss watch manufacturing.

  • Case Size: 41mm
  • Case Material: Stainless Steel
  • Bracelet Material: Barbialla Calf Leather
  • Dial Window: Sapphire
  • Display: Gold Sunburst
  • Movement: Mechanical Automatic Winding
  • Water Resistance: 30m
  • Reference: LC013.AC.JG1
  • Price: Around $52,000

14. MeisterSinger No 01 Sunburst Blue

MeisterSinger No 01 Sunburst Blue

The MeisterSinger No 01 Sunburst Blue, despite being in the number fourteen spot, is one of my favorite mid-market watches for its simple aesthetics and basic design. This is a perfect watch for people who don’t want extra features such as you would find on a chronograph or dive watch.

One of the first things that stand out is the brilliant blue of the dial, closer to a midnight blue than the traditional royal blue found on many classic sunburst watches.

Another interesting design choice is the single hour hand and the absence of a minute hand or sweeping second hand. Instead, there are 144 notches around the watch representing five-minute increments.

The gray suede leather strap further adds to the aesthetics of the timepiece along with the domed sapphire crystal. I think this is a solid timepiece if you’re looking for a balance between simplicity and stylishness at a lower price

  • Case Size: 43mm
  • Case Material: Steel
  • Bracelet Material: Leather
  • Dial Window: Sapphire
  • Display: Dark Blue Sunburst
  • Movement: Sellita SW 210 Hand Wound
  • Water Resistance: 50m
  • Reference: AM3308
  • Price: Around $1,700

15. Ressence Type 1 Squared Night Blue

Ressence Type 1 Squared Night Blue

Ressence is one of the more unique watch brands I’ve come across and the newest on this list. The company was founded in 2010 in Antwerp, Belgium, and quickly made a name for itself owing to aesthetics and function.

From the start, the watch has a modern look that many mid-market and higher-end luxury pieces seem to abstain from in favor of more classical looks. The dial is a blue color with an understated sunburst finish. Three auxiliary dials are present which rotate around the center of the dial when setting the date and time.

One of the most unique features of the watch is how you adjust it. In place of the traditional crown is a lever on the case back which turns both clockwise and counterclockwise. The case is made from Grade 5 Titanium with a satin finish, providing even further character to the timepiece.

While my personal preferences lean more toward the classic looks of watches like the Omega Seamaster and Rolex Oyster, the Ressence Type 1 is a good choice if you want a highly functional and unique timepiece and don’t mind springing for a luxury price tag.

  • Case Size: 41mm
  • Case Material: Grade 5 Titanium
  • Bracelet Material: Blue Cordovan
  • Dial Window: Sapphire
  • Display: Night Blue Sunburst
  • Movement: Patented ROCS 1.3 – Ressence Orbital Convex System
  • Water Resistance: 10m
  • Reference: T12N
  • Price: Around $21,000

15 best chronograph watches under $10k

15 BEST Chronographs Under $10000 (Mechanical Marvels)

Mark Trenkler

December 20, 2022

In this article, I will delve into the fascinating world of chronograph wristwatches. Given the constraints of the price range, there are some obvious omissions because their chronograph models far exceed the upper range or are priced below $5000.00. Nonetheless, fifteen different models from fifteen different manufacturers made the list. The various models are manufactured in Japan, Switzerland, Great Britain, and Germany.

One of the most outstanding features of the chronograph wristwatch is the dials. Creating a dial that displays all the various functions of the chronograph can lead to a disordered mess, but these watchmakers have managed to produce beautifully complex dials in a plethora of color combinations with orderly indexes, markings, subdials, tachymeter features, etc. The entire design of the chronograph is a work of art.

bot-only-imagebot-only-image

Why are Chronographs Special

Chronographs are special in many ways. From their beautiful dial and sundial combinations to the attention to detail in their indexes, hands, and markings, chronographs are timepieces that can be worn every day.  They are intricate instruments for measuring time, and distance traveled over time (with the use of the tachymeter), and aviation calculations.

Chronographs are synonymous with adventure and a sports lifestyle. The chronograph dials and subdials remind one of the dashboards on a race car or the gauges in an aviator’s cockpit. They are also, in most cases, the least expensive of the complications that might be found in a wristwatch. The two predominant chronograph movements are either modular or fully integrated.

The modular is a group of mechanics that comprise the chronograph function and can easily be added to an existing base caliber movement. These types are easier for a watchmaker to service. With an integrated movement, everything is part of the base caliber movement. These types are more difficult to service and maintain, and are found in higher priced more expensive chronograph watches.

The following timepieces listed in this article are all chronographs. Some have additional features, but for the most part, they vary in the materials used to construct them, and whether they are available with a strap or a bracelet, or both.

If you are in the market for a luxury chronograph watch within the price range stated, you should be able to satisfy your desire for a new timepiece. There are a number of honorable mentions at the end of certain models. Some brands have more than a few chronograph selections in their collections so I have listed some other excellent considerations for your further research and review.

Tudor Black Bay Chronograph (Steel and Gold)

I have put this timepiece on the list because it is a high-quality chronograph that is available in the price range and one of the only choices if you desire a stainless steel and 18 kt. gold bracelet option. 7. Tag Heuer Carrera 160-Year Anniversary Ltd. Edition

Tag Heuer Carrera 160-Year Anniversary Ltd. Edition

This watch makes the list not because of its limited production numbers, which by the way number 1860 pieces, but because it is a beautiful interpretation of the Carrera chronograph collection. 10. Bucherer Manero Flyback

Bucherer Manero Flyback

The flyback is an advanced chronograph function that enables the rapid restarting of the timer function while the chronograph is still running. This timepiece has this function but also the aesthetics and refinement of a watch to be worn every day and in a variety of settings. For review, I chose the white dial but this model comes in an array of colors with complimentary strap colors outfitted with a folding clasp, or with a steel bracelet.

The allure of this particular timepiece is the partial skeletal dial and the movement is a 1/10th of a second chronograph where the central chronograph hand makes one turn every 10 seconds. 15. Bremont Supermarine Chronograph

Bremont Supermarine Chronograph

The interesting backstory on this particular chronograph is that it is the only British-made timepiece on my list. The case measures 43mm. in diameter and stands 15.8 mm. on the wrist. 15 Best titanium dive watches

15 BEST Titanium Dive Watches (Durability Meets Luxury!)

Adam Reeder

December 20, 2022

Titanium is one of the most convenient materials for a dive watch. It’s lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and fares well in extreme temperatures. Not to mention, it just sounds cool to say. Don’t believe me? Try it. “This watch is Titanium.” (So cool.) While divers are some of the most durable and useful tool watches, they’re also quite popular for daily use, even for you pathetic landlubbers (apologies, but I’m ¼ pirate on my mother’s side.)

A high-quality dive watch, regardless of whether you actually dive with it, shows the world that you appreciate well-made timepieces and have discerning tastes. The best titanium dive watches never sacrifice function for style, and vice versa. Whether you’re looking for a basic three-hand diver or something with extra complications, we’ve got you covered. Check out the list below and you’re sure to find the best titanium dive watch to suit your needs.

A History of Titanium on the Wrist

Titanium, though a practical material in use for personal products, has not always been the most cost-effective material to use in manufacturing. It only really began being used in earnest in the 1940’s. However, by 1970, The Citizen Watch Company had created the first ever titanium watch, with the Citizen X-8 Chronometer.

Just a few years later, another famed Japanese watchmaker, Seiko, created the first ever dive watch to use titanium. Since then, titanium dive watches have been available from a number of different watchmakers in countless formats. That’s why choosing the right one isn’t always as easy as it might appear.

What to Look For

Shopping for a titanium dive watch is not unlike shopping for any other watch (including the internal justifications of why you need another watch.) While there aren’t as many titanium divers to choose from as there are steel, you still have a fair number of options. For example, depth rating and complications such as a date window, a chronograph, or even a GMT function will all have an impact on the titanium dive watch you choose.

Another important option for a titanium or any other dive watch is the layout of timing bezel and whether it offers 60 or 120 clicks. Finally, whether you want a bracelet, rubber strap, leather, or nato will have a lot to do with how you plan on using the watch.

Many prefer rubber for diving and other active use, while leather and titanium bracelets are optimal for casual or dress settings. All of these things will come into focus once you think deeply about your most common use for the watch. Read on to see which might be the best titanium watch option for your needs and your budget.

1. Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Titanium

Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Titanium

It’s fitting to start this list with a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms model, as it was the world’s first truly modern deep diving watch. The Fifty Fathoms was actually released just months before the Submariner. With a 45-millimeter case, 300 meters of water resistance, and a 44-Jewel in-house Blancpain movement.

The Fifty Fathoms is one of the most iconic watches in the world and it’s beautiful rounded 120-click bezel is one of the main reasons for that. Add the lightness of a titanium case and this might just be the perfect dive watch, combining heritage, looks, and utility.

2. Grand Seiko Titanium Diver

Grand Seiko Titanium Diver

Grand Seiko is the high-end big brother of Seiko, and this watch offers something for its little brother to look up to (and it also won’t give you noogies in front of your friends.) This absolutely stunning titanium dive watch includes one of the things that makes many Grand Seikos so special; GS’s patented spring drive movement. The spring drive keeps time with the use of a mainspring like most other mechanical luxury watches.

The difference with a Spring Drive movement is that it incorporates an electronic regulator to keep the accuracy to within one second a day. The case has a diameter of 44.2mm, includes a sapphire crystal and bezel insert, and a full titanium bracelet. With the Grand Seiko titanium diver you get all the bells and whistles that this amazing Japanese watchmaker has to offer, in a lightweight and corrosion resistant package.

3. Oris Aquis Titanium Date

Oris Aquis Titanium Date

Oris makes some of the most accessible and practical dive watches on the market. The Oris Aquis line has become synonymous with value and durability. This titanium model is no different. It has a beautiful grey sunburst dial, a 43.5mm diameter case, double domed sapphire crystal and a ceramic bezel insert. It also contains an automatic Sellita-based Oris caliber 733 movement.

It offers a 38-hour power reserve and the watch comes on a beautiful and light titanium bracelet. This watch is one of the best value titanium models available from any brand, let alone a respected Swiss heritage watchmaker. Are you going to consider buying this watch, Oris your decision-making a bit off today? (Yes. It was a dad joke. They can’t all be winners.)

4. Seamaster Ploprof Titanium

Seamaster Ploprof Titanium

The Omega Seamaster Ploprof is one of the most interesting dive watches available from any brand. Let’s start with the name: The word ”Ploprof” is derived  from the term Plongeur Professionnel, which is French for “Hey look at my watch!” Actually, a more accurate translation of the phrase would be “professional diver.” The Ploprof was designed with deep water divers in mind.

The distinctive case is made from a single solid piece of Titanium with no case back so that there’s fewer areas of weakness where water can enter. It’s rated to go as deep as 1200 meters. It includes a sapphire crystal, a helium escape valve, and Omega’s dependable and highly accurate 8912 movement. With a bulky 55mm diameter, it’s no shrinking violet, but It’s one of the best deep dive watches (if not the best) commercially available.

5. Seamaster 300 Diver 007 James Bond No Time to Die Edition

Seamaster 300 Diver 007 James Bond No Time to Die Edition

This model will look as good with a Tuxedo as it does with a wetsuit. Aside from the impressive titanium construction, it includes a ceramic bezel insert, 300 meter depth rating, applied circular indices, 42mm diameter, Omega’s in-house caliber 8806 with the patented co-axial escapement, and a too-cool-for-school aesthetic.

You’ll be ready to thwart any evil plots at a moment’s notice; even if it’s just the office jerk, Roger, stealing your paperclips whenever you step out (I know it’s you ROGER!) Beware though, if you’re looking for a watch that explodes, deciphers foreign codes, can crack a safe lock, or block trolls on Twitter, you’ll have to look elsewhere (like maybe G-shock.) This one only tells the time. But it does so with a swanky British accent.

6. Seiko Prospex Titanium

Seiko Prospex Titanium

Seiko Prospex divers are some of the best highly-accessible dive watches on the market. They’re also some of the best looking ones as well. This model adds titanium to its resume, so you won’t be disappointed for sure. It’s got a diameter of 35mm, a ceramic bezel insert, Seiko’s dependable 5R65 automatic movement, and a super-cool all-black titanium case.

The large applied circular indices as well as the hands are filled with copious amounts of lume for high visibility in the water. The silicone band is also supple and soft, yet durable. If you’re looking for a watch that stays under the radar, but makes you feel like black panther, then this is the model for you (Warning: We said the watch will make you feel like Black Panther. However, keep in mind you’ll never look nearly as cool as him.)

7. Baltic Aquascaphe Titanium

Baltic Aquascaphe Titanium

Baltic just may be the most respected microbrand in the watch world. It’s also one of the least microbrand sounding microbrands in the market today. “Baltic” sounds like the name of a brand that was started in a small mountain village back in 1846, but it wasn’t. It was started in a non-descript office park in suburban France in 2017 (still romantic, if you ask me.)

The brand’s founder wanted to base Baltic on his love for his grandfather’s vintage watch collection. The Aquascaphe is the brand’s most popular and recognizable release to date. This titanium version has a water resistance of 200 meters and a double domed sapphire crystal. It offers an almost unbelievable value proposition.

Utilizing a Miyota 9039 automatic movement, it’s a dependable diver with great looks and a lightweight and durable case to boot. The comfortable and attractive tropic dive strap is an added bonus. Baltic is one of those brands that gives you “watch guy street cred” without spending an arm and a leg.

8. Tudor Pelagos 39

Tudor Pelagos 39

The tudor Pelagos has enjoyed a lot of popularity as of late, especially with the release of this 39mm variant. All the Pelagos models from Tudor have titanium cases, meaning you have a few different sizes to choose from. Inside they have in-house Tudor movements and 300 meters of water resistance. They’re also a great alternative to the ubiquitous Tudor Black Bay line that, while great dive watches, are about as common to see as bad dancing on TikTok.

This blue variant of the is one of the more interesting models, and it looks as good with jeans and a t-shirt as it does with a full wetsuit. The bracelet is made from durable rubber and its soft and flexible enough to be one of the most comfortable bracelets in your collection.

9. Breitling Avenger Seawolf Night mission Titanium

Breitling Avenger Seawolf Night mission Titanium

As one of the most respected brands for pilot’s watches, Breitling may not always be at the top of most peoples’ list for dive watches. However, this Avenger Seawolf is one of the coolest looking titanium dive watches around. It’s got a depth rating of 300 meters, and the 45mm case makes for a highly legible dial. It’s also a COSC certified chronometer and includes a 3:00 date window. With the dark color and nice nato strap, you’ll be ready for all sorts of covert ops, even if it’s just sneaking a few Twinkies out of the cupboard in the middle of the night.

10. Gerrard Perregaux Titanium Sea Hawk

Gerrard Perregaux Titanium Sea Hawk

GP is a great Swiss brand, and this is an amazing looking 44m dive watch. While Gerrard Perregaux is more known for their “land-based” sports models, they have a long history of creating durable and practical dive watches for their customers.

The sapphire crystal, rubber strap with double folding clasp, and 200m water resistance make it nice, but the sleek looks and slick titanium bezel make it a dream on the wrist. It even includes a power reserve indicator to keep track of how long you have until you must take a break from your awesome titanium watch. It’s a great complication that most titanium divers don’t include.

11. Ulysse Nardin Titanium Diver Yoshida

Ulysse Nardin Titanium Diver Yoshida

The colors on this diver make it one of the most interesting options on our list. Ulysse Nardin is one of those brands that give s you instant credibility within the watch community. It’s a brand that makes unparalleled watches in multiple different categories, but this diver is one of the best they have.

It includes a 44mm diameter, small seconds, sapphire crystal, and a highly legible power reserve indicator. It’s also a chronometer that has 300 meters of water resistance. The blue white and black color scheme makes every facet of the watch easy to read, from the bezel to the beautiful black dial. What’s more, you get to be a snob and correct people when they inevitably mispronounce the brand name of your watch!

12. Doxa Sub 600T Pacific Titanium

Doxa Sub 600T Pacific Titanium

Doxa is one of the brands more synonymous with diving than any other. It was the choice of famed marine explorer Jaques Cousteau and continues to make some of the best divers around. This model has an insane dive rating of 600 meters, a durable  FKM  rubber strap with folding buckle, a 38-hour power reserve, and sports the iconic orange doxa color.

It also has an interesting angular case shape and the rubber bracelet has an integrated design, giving the whole watch a very retro 1970’s feeling to it (but in the good way. Not like your uncle Fred’s hairstyle.)  It also has a lug width of 20mm, so you’ll have an infinite number of different options to choose from if you want to swap out the strap for your own.

13. Tag Heuer Aquaracer Titanium

Tag Heuer Aquaracer Titanium

This titanium Aquaracer from Tag Heuer and famed watch designer George Bamford is one of the best mid-range titanium diver options anywhere. You don’t necessarily have to spend an arm and a leg to get a great lightweight diver. This one has a beautiful dark brushed titanium look, a three o-clock date window, concentric circle-designed black dial, a 43mm diameter, and an impressive 300 meters of water resistance. The movement within is a TAG Heuer Calibre 5, based on the bulletproof ETA 2824-2. This watch is a great mid-range option for almost any situation, no matter who you’re…Aqua racing.

14. Zodiac Titanium Super Sea Wolf

Zodiac Titanium Super Sea Wolf

Zodiac has so many throwback designs from their heyday in the 1960s and 1970s that it’s hard to go wrong with one of their dive models. This one has a substantial lume-filled outer ring and bright orange inner chapter ring for high visibility, a beautiful jubilee style bracelet, 42mm diameter, 200 meters of water resistance and a Swiss automatic movement.

Not only is this a great practical dive watch, but the bracelet makes it stand out in a crowd even wearing it with regular street wear. Wear this one often enough and they just may start calling You the Super Sea Wolf.

15. Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman

Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman

Hamilton has a long history of military watches that goes all the way back to world war I. Their Frogman watch began in the 1950s and this modern titanium model has some of that same DNA built in. However, the modern additions make it a new classic.

It has a diameter of 46mm, patented Frogman crown lock system, to keep the crown in place, and an incredible 1000 meters of water resistance. It also has a highly legible red bezel and futuristic rubber bracelet with folding clasp for added security. For once, you’ll be glad to hear people say that you remind them of a “frogman.”

Audemars Piguet vs Hublot

There are many similarities between the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and the Hublot Big Bang watches. The history of these watches is also interweaved, as we shall observe shortly in this review. You’d be forgiven to think they come from the same company. Both Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and the Hublot Big Bang are classic watches.

The Royal Oak is the elder of the two, having debuted in 1970 and the Big Bang in 2005. Both watches are conversational starters among watch enthusiasts. It is easy to see why; they have a commanding outlook with a design that makes the watches feel indestructible and flawlessly elegant. They have almost similar technical capabilities and both command a healthy price in the market. The Royal Oak is the favored watch among collectors – probably because it is a vintage timepiece.

bot-only-imagebot-only-image

What the Big Bang lacks in austerity is compensated by a stylish design and advanced technological capabilities meant to appeal to the modern watch lover. It also has a modest price to match. This article places the watches side by side to compare their design, style, technological capabilities, and other features to understand what makes them popular and help you make an informed choice.

Brief History

Two experienced watchmakers, Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Piguet founded the company 147 years ago (in 1875) and incorporated it as Audemars Piguet in 1881 in Switzerland. The first wristwatch from this company was manufactured in 1892, after years of R&D. It was a first-minute repeater wristwatch that was sold to Louis Brandt.

This vintage Edward Piguet watch featured a calendar, split-seconds hands, a minute repeater, and a chronograph. The next generation of Audemars and Piguet to run the company took it through a period of continuous improvement, and adoption of new technology, and prepared the company to become a legacy and respected brand as a luxury watchmaker.

The Royal Oak watch that debuted in 1972 at the Baselworld was the most prominent watch from the Audemars Piguet collection. It was a classic masterpiece, different from the ones already on sale, and made with precision.

Carlo Crocco founded the Hublot watchmaking company in 1980. He was an avid watch lover, watchmaker, and watch collector. He brought his wealth of watch-making experience and exposure to Hublot. This ingenuity, coupled with a quick adaptation to technology enabled Hublot to create great masterpieces and gain the respect of the industry within a short period.

The Hublot Big Bang Unico (2005) was a testament to Hublot’s commitment to making contemporary timepieces without deviating too much from the traditional watch-making processes. It can be tough for watch lovers to choose between the Hublot Big Bang Unico and the Royal Oak Offshore chronograph. Let’s dive deeper to compare these watches to see their similarities and differences and learn more about what makes them become so revered in the luxury watch industry.

Style & design

Hublot Big Bang Unico

Hublot Big Bang Unico Perpetual Calendar Sapphire

The Big Bang Unico Titanium watch has a satin-finished and brush-polished grade 5 titanium case. The rounded bezel is held together by 6 H-shaped Titanium screws. Hublot uses grade 5 Titanium extensively when manufacturing its watches because it weighs less and is more resistant to corrosion than most metals. These qualities make it a popular choice in aeronautical and automotive industries to manufacture light aircraft and race cars.

The watch is designed to be fun to wear (with its sporty look) without compromising on the integrity of the parts constituting the piece. The usage of Titanium makes the Unico watch wear lighter irrespective of its large size. When the metal is polished, it retains a bluish metallic sheen. The sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective treatment.  There are two chronograph sub-registers inside the watch – the date display at the 3 o’clock mark and the luminescent hour and hands markers.

The crown has a rubber mold with the company’s logo on the surface. The push buttons are rounded. Each button is held put by a push-button guard. These push buttons are polished to remove sharp edges (and other small details such as black grooves included) and resemble automotive piston rings. There are resin inserts on the flight and a resin gasket underneath the bezel. The remainder of the case (including the inner case that holds the movement system) is made of grade 5 Titanium.

Audemars Royal Oak Offshore

Audemars Royal Oak Offshore

The Audemars Royal Oak Offshore watch has a ceramic case with a glare-proofed crystal, a titanium case back, and matching crown guards. These materials are lighter than steel and make the watch seem lighter despite its large size. All the ceramic parts are polished or satin to create nearly scratch-proof surfaces.

The AP Oak Offshore is a large watch with a diameter of 42mm, a case thickness of 14.21mm, and a lug-to-lug length of 54mm.  The rubber-clad titanium crown is locked into the case with screws. The AP logo is inscribed prominently on the surface. The pushers on either side of the crown are made of highly-polished ceramic material.

The dial

The Audemars Royal OO watch has a black dial with the iconic Audemars Mega Tapisserie pattern splashed across the surface. The hour markers have a coating of white gold. The black minute’s hand has a luminescent coating.

This is a diving watch and the rotating inner bezel contains the diving scale. The bezel can either be black or silver. The black diving scale goes to 60 minutes. The outer bezel is octagonal and held in place by six hex screws. The date disc with a magnifying lens style lies below the dial, making it discreet but functional.

The Hublot Unico skeleton dial contains Arabic numerals and indexes that can be seen from every angle. The hands, numerals, and indexes are filled with super-luminova. The bezel frames a dial that includes two sapphires. The first sapphire sits over the dial. The silkscreen Hublot logo is located underneath the first sapphire. The second sapphire is where you find the indexes, Arabic numerals, and twin sub-registers.

There is a skeletonized date disc at the circumference of the dial. The Hublot Unico calibers are found on the base of the dial. You can see the chronograph with its column wheel, black-polished attenuate, and lateral clutch. The watch has a 60-minute chronograph register. The watch on its case back has the Big Bang inscriptions. It has a full balance bridge for shock resistance and a bi-directional winder with ceramic rotor bearings.

The strap and clasp

The Audemars Royal OO watch has a black natural rubber strap with a matte finish. There is a stainless steel buckle on the clasp. However, the 60mm span across the wrists makes comfort a bit difficult for larger wrists. The rubber option offers more room for the watch to wiggle.

The Hublot Unico has black-lined natural rubber and a deployable Titanium buckle clasp. The Hublot Unico watch has a smart, cleverly hidden, one-click seat-belt buckle system for quick release of the strap. You can easily swap straps without the need to use a tool or go to a watchmaker by pressing this button and sticking the new strap back in.

The center actuator is the only thing that would make one know about this unobstructive system. This makes it easier for the wearer to get after-market straps. Every watch comes with a tough natural rubber strap. The leather strap is sporty-looking, thick, and nicely matches the case swell from the side and the case taper from the top.

The buckle has a twin trigger system that prevents the watch from popping open accidentally. The excess strap is tucked underneath the titanium clasp. This mechanism also eliminates the need to place minder loops to handle the excess strap. The Omega company also uses this innovative design to give their watches a sophisticated, smooth feel and look.

Movements & quality

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore watch (caliber 3126/3840) has a self-winding movement. There are 365 parts and 59 jewels powering this device. It uses the Dubois-Depraz chronograph module outsourced to FHH (The same company that makes parts for Omega, Breitling, and Patek Philippe). The cam-actuated push mechanism on this watch implies that you have to add a little effort when setting or resetting the watch.

The Hublot Big Bang Unico Titanium watch uses the Unico 2 caliber movement. This is a column wheel movement technology that was developed and patented by the Hublot company. It also contains a dual horizontal coupling mechanism that can easily be seen on the dial.

This means that there is no jumper and the hour counter is controlled by the barrel, enhancing accuracy and reliability. The escapement wheel inside this watch is made from silicon. The silicon escapement is not visible on the watch. This escapement improves the efficiency of the watch and stalls service intervals.

Technical properties

The Hublot Big Bang Unico Titanium Chronograph watch was designed to push the limits of horology. It is a unique watch with unique technical capabilities. Although it has borrowed much of its outer design from previous releases, the technical properties of the Hublot Unico are more advanced.

For instance, the watch employs an oscillating double clutch system for movement. This double-clutch system allowed the watchmakers to create a chronograph system that was more reliable and consumed less energy. Unlike the single-clutch system, a double-clutch eliminated the risk of timing distortion by reducing the possibility of slipping.

The reduction of the possibility of slipping ensured there was no needle overlap, improved reliability, improved accuracy, and a better-attenuated start jump. They also added a column wheel and an escapement module that improved the watch’s efficiency. The components inside the escapement system (including the column wheel, balance wheel, and the assembly itself) can be removed from the watch as a single unit, making servicing the water faster and more accurate.

The tourbillon movement technology that powers the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph watch is also revolutionary. The self-winding AP calibre 3126/3840 is automatically powered by the movement of your wrist. The original Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph watch was designed by the legendary watchmaker Emmanuel Gueit.

The current (2021) Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph watch uses a self-winding fly-back calibre with inverted hour and small seconds counters. The hour counter is present at 12 o’clock while the seconds counter lies at the 6 o’clock mark. The 4404 calibre allows you to reset, start, or stop the chronograph with a single function.

Pricing

Both Hublot Big Bang Unico Chronograph and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph watches are designed for the high-end consumer.

The price of pre-owned pieces in the Hublot Big Bang series starts at $12,000. New pieces can demand up to 10 times more depending on the complexity and customization made. A pre-owned Hublot Big Bang Unico Chronograph watch costs northwards of $20,000.

A pre-owned Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph starts at approximately $16,000. Some timepieces command over $400,000 depending on the complexity and customization.

Accuracy

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph has 21,600 rotations per minute with a power reserve of 50 hours. The Hublot Unico has 72 hours of power reserve. The Hublot has 28 800 revolutions per minute.

Water resistance

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore watch has a water resistance capacity of up to 300m. The Hublot Big Bang Unico Titanium watch has a water resistance of 10 ATM/100m.

You can take either of these watches swimming or shallow diving without being concerned about damaging the piece. I would not advise bathing with the watches because the hot water may damage the watch’s integrity in the long run.

FAQs

Do the Hublot Big Bang Unico Titanium and AP Oak Offshore chronograph watches hold value?

Hublot BB Unico chronograph is a bold watch. Some people love the underlying air of crassness the watch eludes and others prefer a more subdued version. Irrespective of the preference, there is no doubt that this is a beloved watch.

It is an icon in the Big Bang series. So much so that Hublot created other watches following the BB Unico inspiration (including the latest 2021 edition) and using the same self-winding calibre. It holds value well and remains a treasured luxury timepiece by avid collectors.

The AP Oak Offshore chronograph is pricier than the Unico. It is also highly respected by watch lovers and collectors across the globe. It has a bold yet classic design and the tourbillon technology endeared the watch to many people. Its ability to compete with other classic watches in functionality, price, accuracy, and innovation has made this a well-sought-out timepiece.

Conclusion

There are many similarities between the AP Oak Offshore chronograph watch and the Hublot BB Unico watch. Both watches are first among equals, meshing technology and creativity perfectly to make timepieces that are functional, reliable, and great conversation starters. And they do all this without being ghastly crass about it. There is a level of free-spiritedness these watches exude.

You can easily swap a leather strap on the BB or AP for a more sporty rubber version and enjoy the outdoors. Or you can swap the straps for a classic metal one and wear it with your favorite suit when doing official business. These are the kind of watches you will find on the wrists of your favorite celebrity or prominent business people. They are unassuming, yet they pack a ton of power and functionality.

Despite their large size, both watches can fit flush on smaller wrists and their creative clasp system ensures that they stay put, even under intense wrist movement. You do not need to worry about damaging the watch when swimming as they both have a minimum of 10T water resistance capacity. The prices may vary and the AP takes the mantle here but irrespective of the watch you decide to buy between the two, you will always step out in style.

15 BEST Champagne Dial Watches That We Totally Love!

William Boyd

December 1, 2022

When thinking of Champagne: class, elegance, and sophistication come to mind. These themes were reiterated through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 in Wines Certificate that I took. Discovering the complexities of the notes of lemon and subtleties of brioche bread when sampling two Champagnes struck a chord with me.

However, there is more than one kind of bubbly out there. There is Prosecco from Italy, Cava from Spain, and Crémant from France (yes, different types of sparkling wine exist in France.) Each of these wines, they carry different flavors, tones, and prices. That’s exactly what we are going to be exploring today, The 15 Best Champagne Dialed Watches.

bot-only-imagebot-only-image

Looking at this list of watches we will explore the varying tones of the dials, the quality, and price of these respective watches. Even though the list brings in a broad variety of timepieces, like the variety of sparkling wine out in the market, it is adequate to compare them all under the umbrella of Champagne Dials. And I can guarantee you, all these watches will age like fine wine.

What is a Champagne Dial Watch? – Picking the Perfect Bottle

When going to the store to get a bottle of wine to celebrate an occasion it can be overwhelming. Isle headers with “Country” or “Types” are often floating over thousands of selections. What typically draws someone into purchasing a bottle? The label. A survey in 2016 stated that 80% of consumers buy their wine solely based on how the label looks. This is truly how this list was compiled, mainly on the look of the shimmering Champagne dials below.

Added into the mix is the variety of price points and a quick insight into the movement that helps each timepiece function. A “Champagne” dial watch is typically a gold-colored hue that stretches the face of the dial and reiterates its namesake. This can vary from a light eggshell or an off-white tone all the way to a heavily saturated yellow or sherry tone.

This gold color can be achieved through gold-plated dials, silver plated with gold, the texture of the dial, or even a paint or lacquer finish. The Champagne tone of the dial typically carries a sunburst material which is a brushed metal following a radial pattern instead of the prototypical brushed parallel lines giving it a highly reflective effect.

Now let’s pop this bottle and raise a glass to The 15 Best Champagne Dial Watches.

15. The Longines Master Collection

The Longines Master Collection

This beige dial makes it easy to see why diamonds are a girl’s (and watches,) best friend. This Longines may be as cliché as proposing to someone with a diamond ring in a Champagne flute. But as cheesy as it is, there is something charming about it.

This watch carries a classic feel as the size comes in at 34mm, with a stainless-steel case and holds the Longines Caliber L888.5 self-winding movement with an approximate 72-hour power reserve. The dial holds 12 diamonds (2 located at the 12 o’clock indices as the date window is at the 3 o’clock position) amounting to a total of 0.055 carats. This watch is priced at 2,250 CHF.

14. Zodiac Olympos Automatic

Zodiac Olympos Automatic

The Zodiac Olympos has one of the best dials on this list for three reasons. The first, it is segmented into four quadrants embracing the era of old 1950s vintage Omegas with their crosshair dials. Second, the radial finishing of the dial makes it shimmer in different ways giving it a pie-pan effect. Finally, that Champagne dial is gleaming. The positioning of the crown at two o’clock and a blue typeface on the date wheel is also something to take note of.

The case shape is something you do not see every day being pentagonal in design. Under the different case shape is an automatic Calibre 1-11 produced by Swiss Technology Production that will give this Zodiac a 44-hour power reserve. If you are interested in adding a modern brand with a classic feel, put this Olympos into your rotation from Exquisite Timepieces for $895.

13. Omega Speedmaster 38 Co‑Axial Chronometer Chronograph 38mm

Omega Speedmaster 38 Co‑Axial Chronometer Chronograph 38mm

The dial of this watch is a silvery-Champagne tone that is offset by the warmth of this Omega’s Sedna Gold™. This Speedmaster can be classified as a Sparkling Rosé in the world of sparkling wines. The case diameter comes in at 38mm with an Omega calibre 3330 powering this watch, giving it 52-hours of life. The dulled matte alligator strap plays into the monochromatic feel of this watch highlighting the one-of-a-kind blend of gold and the light Prosecco-esque dial. This watch is priced at $17,400.

12. Oris Divers Sixty-Five

Oris Divers Sixty-Five

The Oris Divers sixty-five may not be your typical Champagne dial, but it carries some of the characteristics of one. The case itself is bronze and stainless steel that measures in at 40mm with a brown dial that embodies the idea of sparkling wine.

The bronze case exterior will begin to patina over time adding characteristics and personalization to the watch. This bronze patina will complement the dial colors while embracing the sparkling wine theme through the Super-LumiNova hands in light old radium.

The movement powering this Oris is a movement based on the Sellita Caliber SW200-1, which Oris coins the Caliber 733 that has a 38-hour power reserve. Oris is a brand that is often associated with being a watch collector’s watch brand. They are able to show this through such a high-quality timepiece at the great price of $1950.

11. The Longines Spirit

The Longines Spirit

Longines lists this dial as a true Champagne color. This can be debated as the spectrum of color is displayed across the list and there is no correct definition of the color. The neutrality of this watch is the charm that pulls in the wearer.

The applied Arabic numerals and the PVD gray polished hands contribute to the objective of highlighting the intricacies and subtleties of the Champagne dial. Like many other Longines this has the L888.4 movement enshrouded by the stainless steel case measuring at 37mm. The Longines Spirit has a price of 2,250 CHF.

10. Seiko Presage “Cocktail Time” Star bar Limited Edition

Seiko Presage “Cocktail Time” Star bar Limited Edition

This limited edition Seiko Cocktail Time is a definite head turner. The honeycomb shape splattered across the dial gives the depiction of bubbles floating across the watch. This Cocktail Time is coined the “Star Bar” and is limited to just 6,000 pieces. The automatic with manual winding movement has a power reserve of approximately 41-hours.

One eye-catching aspect is the skeletonized porthole that allows the wearer to see part of the movement from the front, and if that’s not enough the wearer can turn over the watch and see the displayed caseback with the engraved serial number and the number of the allocated limited edition. The diameter of this timepiece is 40.5mm of pure class. This watch is incredibly priced at $595.

9. Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Day Date Desert Edition

Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Day Date Desert Edition

Blancpain is a sleeper brand that deserves more attention. This limited edition fifty fathoms could be one of the reasons why. The bathyscaphe day date desert edition shows a sandy Champagne-colored dial that features day and date complications. The red tip of the second hand adds the perfect contrast across the neutral-toned dial. Behind that gorgeous dial lies the Caliber 1315DD movement that boasts a 120-hour power reserve.

A unidirectional satin-brushed steel bezel with a mocha-colored ceramic insert makes the dial pop even more. The sail-cloth strap compliments the ruggedness of this watch. At 43mm in diameter, it will sit hefty on the wrist, but with a Champagne dial as unique as this one it is worth the extra real estate. This Blancpain will set you back $12,700.

8. Seiko 5 Sports

The dial of this Seiko Five Sports is a matte beige tone that is lighter in the middle and dissipates to a darker matte style towards the edges of the dial. The SRPD67’s dial paints the picture of a light bottle of sparkling wine. Underneath that dial is the Automatic Seiko caliber 4R36 giving this watch approximately 41 hours of power reserve, however, it may not be the most accurate timepiece to add to your collection.

The movement can run at +45 to -35 seconds per day. A Seiko 5 is a great gift-watch to those just entering the world of watches as they are conducive to most budgets and provide indisputable quality. This model also would match well with a glass of Champagne in hand or as a celebratory gift for an important life moment. Priced on Amazon at $195.98

7.5. Seiko 5 Sports BAIT Collaboration

Seiko 5 Sports BAIT Collaboration

This watch is a sneaky addition to the list. Maybe I should have called this article “The Top 16 Champagne Dial Watches”? The reason that this watch gets a decimal listing is that it is so similar to the previous Seiko 5. This watch has the same technical specs as the prior with some additional flare.

This is a limited edition collaboration that is done with BAIT and was previously available on the Exquisite Timepieces’ website. The creamy Champagne dial does have the sunburst or reflection that a glass of bubbly produces but it does share the same color palette. This watch was priced at $440 and is limited to 300 pieces.

7. Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36 White Grape 116000

Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36 White Grape 116000

To make wine you gather some grapes and through the process of fermentation you can  create that beloved beverage we all love. I had to include the Rolex Oyster Perpetual White Grape in this list because this grape carries a Champagne tone. One thing that pleases me about the Oyster Perpetual models is the symmetry of the dial.

The stainless steel case back encloses the Rolex calibre 3130 automatic movement with 42-hours of power. This Oyster Perpetual 36mm has been discontinued but was on Exquisite Timepieces. Keep your eyes on the website for full sets of watches like this one.

6. The Longines Flagship

The Longines Flagship

As you can tell by the third Longines on this list, I may hold some favoritism to the brand. The simplicity of the indices of the Longines Flagship is what makes it wonderful. The size of the case at 40mm makes it slightly big for a dress watch, yet coming in at 8.7mm thickness makes it feel smaller than it actually is.

This beige-champagne tone dial is contrasted by the silver hands and indices. Similar to the Longines L2.357.4.07.6 this uses the L888 movement that is based on the ETA A31.L11 movement. This handsome Champagne dialed watch is priced at 1,650 CHF and is an incredible value at this price point.

5. Glashütte Original Alfred Helwig Tourbillon 1920 – Limited Edition

Glashütte Original Alfred Helwig Tourbillon 1920 - Limited Edition

This dial may be an off-Champagne tone but the texture is what embodies the theme on this watch. The dial is made of solid gold and is solid plated in silver by friction, replicating the texture that you may find in Champagne or the microbubbles found in different ages of sparkling wine. And of course Champagne and Tourbillon share many of the same synonyms of class, elegance, and success.

The Alfred Helwig Tourbillon 1920 – Limited Edition uses a manual wind Calibre 54-01 which has a running time of 100-hours and hosts a flying Tourbillon through its display caseback. This Glashütte Original is the priciest of this list, coming in at $121,800.

4. Nomos Minimatik Champagne

Nomos Minimatik Champagne

Nomos is a brand that brings value to the forefront of every single model that they release. The Minimatik in champagne is what I picture when people describe a champagne dial watch. Bauhaus design and the excellence of German manufacturing resonate from the typeface all the way to the minimalist-inspired clasp. The dark numerals add a bold contrast to the light shade stretching across the dial.

Nestled between the contrast of light and dark, the neon orange accents compose the dichotomy of colors together. The Minimatik’s galvanized dial is accented with Champagne gold minute markers.

Nomos continues to amaze by adding their in-house built caliber DUW 3001 which uses Nomos’ proprietary swing systems that promises outstanding accuracy. All of these features and beautiful aesthetic is priced at $3,800.

3. The Grand Seiko

The Grand Seiko

This watch exudes the fizziness of Champagne dial watches. As we all know, Grand Seiko’s dials are masterpieces and this one surely lives up to those expectations. The muted tones on the dial are contrasted by the stunning blue tempered steel hand. This watch is powered by the Caliber 9R65 Automatic Spring Drive movement.

The movement has a 72-hour power reserve and has a power reserve indicator in the bottom left corner of the dial. Grand Seiko is known for the accuracy of their watches and time keeping ability. The SBGA373 comes in at +/- 1 seconds per day (+/- 15 seconds per month.) This Grand Seiko will cost $5200.

2. Rolex Day-Date President

Rolex Day-Date President

When you think of a quintessential Champagne dial watch, this Rolex Day-Date immediately comes to my mind. This pristine example of a Day-Date President 18238 from 1990 comes as a full set with an original box and papers.

This set has been stored in a safe and has the original Rolex sticker on the back of the watch and is in new-old-stock (NOS) condition. The bright 18k dial with date and day complications in champagne-colored gold only adds to the allure of this watch.

This is the watch that is associated with success and celebration. Whether it is a big business deal, retirement, or another celebration of importance; this 36mm piece of perfection pairs well with a bottle of Champagne like Dom Pérignon. The watch and the complete set can be yours for $36,000 found on the Exquisite Timepieces website.

1. Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional Co‑Axial Master Chronometer Chronograph 42mm

Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional Co‑Axial Master Chronometer Chronograph 42mm

This watch is truly breathtaking. The dial uses a sun-brushed version of Omega’s proprietary 18K Moonshine Gold™. This may not be an exact Champagne color dial but we can get away with calling it a sparkling Rosé. This Speedmaster Professional is less of a tool watch and definitely embodies the “pop bottles” mentality being shrouded in 18k gold. However, this watch is not just a pretty face. It has the technical specs to back itself up.

This Speedy is a Certified Master Chronometer, approved by METAS, and resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss! If this is not enough to convince you that this is a celebration watch, you can flip this timepiece over and see the sophisticated workings of the manual wind Calibre Omega 3861 through the sapphire caseback that has a 50-hour power reserve. This watch is well worth the price coming in at $39,700.

Time to put a cork in it!

Throughout this list of 15 (I guess 16!) watches, I hope everyone found some Champagne that appeases their palate. There is a watch for every Champagne lover and these ones are worth celebrating with. Cheers!
